Then they spoke to LAL's McMenamin opined that with Lin and possibly Asik the Rox might no longer be interested in Dwight. That the Lakes would be last team standing.

    Duh-lusional!

2 min before the deadline, Knicks say "Just kidding... we will match Lin"

Morey replies 3 min later... "sorry Knicks, just got your message now. Too bad it was after the deadline."

Morey gets the last laugh after the interesting Friday shennanigan.

I've been gone for a couple of hours and not watching TV. Every time a media mouth says New York will not match we sigh with relief. Have the Knicks actually given in (and have we heard some sort of official announcement or press release from them) or is the media still just saying that so that they can say we heard it from them first? I no longer know what to believe prior to the deadline passing.

Why is everyone acting like we just got a superstar? This team still sucks.

Lol, rookie. Listen, would you rather have machado or weezy dude starting? Rockets now have a starting caliber point guard.

The New York Knicks confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com's Ian Begley they will opt not to match the offer sheet point guard Jeremy Lin signed with Houston.

    Lin

The Knicks had until 11:59 p.m. ET Tuesday to announce their decision whether they would match Houston's three-year, $25.1 million offer sheet or let the Rockets have Lin, who became an international phenomenon during a dazzling February.

A team source told Begley earlier this week the third year of the Rockets' offer -- worth $14.8 million -- caused the Knicks to consider letting Lin go to Houston. If the Knicks matched the offer, they would have been subject to a luxury tax in the third year, potentially bringing their total out-of-pocket cost for the team's salary to about $43 million in 2014-15.

The Rockets' offer to Lin would pay him $5 million in the first year, $5.225 million in the second and $14.8 million in the third, according to sources.

Lin, a restricted free agent, made $788,000 last season.

Information from ESPNNewYork.com's Ian Begley was used in this report.

And to think, some people will never make 788,000 in their lifetime.
