It's called class, LeBron. It requires you to put your mighty self aside for about 30 seconds and show some respect for the game. As great as you are, the game is still bigger than you.

As someone who greatly admires LeBron and his body of work especially this season, I find this attitude rather disturbing.

2nd year in a row he left the court.

He basks in all the media attention all season, but can't face the music when it comes crashing down. What a cop out.

Come to think of it, I actually don't recall Lebron congratulating any of the opposing teams whenever he loses the playoffs. Can you someone confirm/disprove?

I think all of the showboating before and during the game is bad karma for his team. I'm talking about that stupid camera pose and dance moves he does. Funny nobody talk about this, since this has been the problem since day 1. Its disrespectful to the other team and it pisses them off(Ray Allen comes to mind). Why the hell do you do stuff like that in a professional sports is beyond me. The worst part is that all of his teammates take parts in that stupid stunts. I hope he learned his lesson for next year cut those out and less people will hate him.

James' teammates should be left to answer for themselves; LeBron had one of the greatest playoff series of all time. Everyone here likes to hate on Kobe but the fact of the matter is that he has been subjected to adversity throughout his life and thrives in it. LeBron has never had to deal with it so he doesn't know how to act when things aren't spoon fed to him or going perfectly his way... not because he's "classless". It's easy to hate on people when you don't know where they're coming from.

I was about to post something similar ... so much for the antics the Cavs displayed during pre-game and timeouts that the media just ate up for team chemistry. So your only together when things are good?

As the leader of the team, he needs to be there for both the good times and the bad.

At the same time, I don't think it's disturbing for a player not to congratulate after a loss. I think it's understandable if you don't believe the words you are about to say when emotions are so high. I hope he doesn't cave to peer pressure ... because his congratulations would be fake. But leaving the locker room before anyone got there was wrong to do as a leader of that team.

Talking to reporters after the game is a player responsibility, and he should have done that.

As for congratulating the winners immediately after the game, I couldn't care less about that. That's not about class, it's the image of class. A private congratulations message later on in the night is perfectly acceptable.

Not really - due to the incredible hype LeBron receives, nothing less than a personal message, perhaps accompanied by a string quartet serenade, is in order, or else the basketball public (at least a substantial portion of which, judging from the BBS these days) will retire to the fainting couch due to the morally repugnant failure to adhere to normal standards.

Um, but at 24, he's already gotten past the 1st round multiple times and been to the NBA Finals. T-Mac has still never passed the 1st round, while playing a game.

I think what really got lebron pissed was because dwight shot that three ball when the clock was winding down at the end of the game. You could tell by the look on his face that he felt disrespected that dwight even took that shot. Dont really blame him for walking off the court after that.

Hakeem did the same thing against the Magic when the Rockets were about to win the 2nd championship (Jim Foley: "What a way to end it!"). I do think its funny how there are different standards for the winner and loser. No one will criticize the winning side when they start celebrating instead of taking a moment to go to the losing side and provide some comforting words. But the losers are somehow obligated to walk over and pretend like they're happy for the other team.

Give the guy a break. He played as hard as he could for 6 games and got beat. He was upset. He offered his congratulations privately. Why does he have to pretend he is happy in public?

Try to remember how you felt after the following games:

    Rockets-Jazz, Game 6, 1997
    Rockets-Sonics, Game 4, 1996
    Rockets-Sonics, Game 7, 1993

Personally, after those losses, I did not feel like talking to anybody or doing anything but stewing in my misery. And I was not even playing!

It must be pretty difficult for a competitior like LeBron to stand around congratulating a team that just beat him and watching their fans go crazy. And then he is supposed to go and answer a bunch of stupid questions about his "failure."

I don't think it's the same thing at all. The Magic of 1995 were still playing defense and trying to steal the ball because they cut the lead to 10 ... The Magic of 2009 blew out the Cavs and Howard tried to make a three before the buzzer went off. I can certainly see how Lebron would be disgusted by that if he was.

As I remember it, when Hakeem shot that 3-pointer the game was decided. There was only like 10 seconds or something left on the clock, and we were up 9 points.

He should have shown up, but I can understand why he didn't want to. He lost the series, but he has made big gains this year. I hope he can learn the importance of facing the limelight when you lose rather than only when you win, from this experience.
