He is such a freak of nature, so big and quick and a fast thinker too......not to mention competitive.

That is how you get a superstar.

Too bad for Lebron his playing style is most efficient in his early years in the NBA. Once he reaches the age of 27+ and begins losing his athletism and power he does not have much to make up for.

Yeah, because no one has ever been athletic after the age of 27...

I know people are tired of the "hype" but I don't see how you can argue with this. Where would the Cavs be this year without James? Would they even have homecourt advantage?

Not only that, but it's well known that he's an amazing team mate and leader for his team. Look at the chemistry of Cleveland -- it's primarily Lebron's doing.

A better question would be: Would they even make the playoffs?

LeBron James is this season MVP without a doubt, way before Kobe and Wade.

In the East, probably. In the West, no way.

Guess the league will definetly fix a Finals between last year's MVP & this year's. What better than the two best teams and the two MVP's battling each other ? Definetly good for the money so let's hope the Rockets have the true warrior mentality in them and stop it from happening. If the refs give us fits, let's throw some elbows and pick up some technicals, that will show how we feel about a fixed NBA Finals. I would be very dissapointing if we go down like p*****s again (like last year).

yeah kobe may try to prove a point tonight but he has his sore throat!

hopefully kobe tries to prove that point quarters 1-3 where the rockets will have a shot at making him play me ball and not in the fourth where he can single handedly destroy a team in a quarter.

but as for James, I hate all the media/espn/etc nut hugging that goes on with him but there is no denying that the man-child is just on a different level when it comes to playing basketball. Imagine if he ever developed a jumper like Kobe, he would be able to drop 40ppg with ease. But i guess in some ways its good that he hasnt since otherwise he may not attack the basket as much.

probably the first of many, he is the first player since bird I could see winning 3 straight mvps

I like him,he has made great progress but I feel Kobe should been the MVP.
Lebron has a bigger role to play than Kobe without a doubt but Bryant is the MVP in the league.

You don't lose your athleticism at 27 (unless your name is McGrady).
Just look at Wade he's 27 and he's better than ever.
At 27 you're supposed to be in your absolute prime, still having great athleticism and a better understanding of the game.

Now the next step for Lebron is to win the championship. Until he does that, he will not be in the same class as the truly greats just yet.

I really don't understand how anyone could call him all hype or overrated. Sure his jump shot isn't as silky sweet smooth as someone like Ray Allen, but its far from horrible. He's only 24 and I know he hasn't met his ceiling yet. My God the guy is a beast on the basketball court and above all else, is ultra competitive. He'll have 3 or 4 MVP trophies before its all over.

I hope the guy leaves Cleveland though to compete for championships (preferably to Houston, but I won't hold my breath).

This marks the first time in five years that the man who won MVP actually deserved it. KG should have won last year and Dirk's MVP was a joke. The Nash MVPs, in my mind, are also bogus; They should have gone to Shaq and Kobe.

If he gets that jumper working consistently he will still be putting up 28/7/7 or something close long after his 30th birthday. That's what is so scary about him. Once he loses a step or two of athleticism he will still be big, strong and insanely skilled.

Just wait until he realizes how much offense he can generate with his back to the basket. He could literally re-invent his game after the age of 30 if he wanted to and still be a force.

LBJ's abilities are a given. But I think people sometimes underestimate what a leader he's been on and off the court. He's been the complete package.

Kobe is the better all-around player IMO, but if you look at the actual NAME of the award, I think the NBA got it right.

A Kobe-less lakers team is still a decent team in the West. A LeBron-less Cavs team is a lottery team in the East. A lottery team in the East is saying something...
