you think playing "on the street" shifts things in kobe's favor? the physical freak of all freaks is going to be hurt by playing a game with more lax contact rules? a game with no offensive fouls is going to hurt the human tank who moves like a guard? i'd like to see people try to outmuscle lebron james.
it really is amazing what some people will type on this board to put down lebron james. i wonder if it's just a clutchfans thing or if all boards are so anti-lebron. to be fair, it seems like most of the people i actually consider knowledgeable on this board acknowledge that there's lebron and then everybody else and it's the casual, nothing to really back up what they say types that diss everything about him (he's big and strong, waaaahhhhh), so maybe i just shouldn't be bothered by it. the problem is that the knowledgeable portion of the board isn't a big enough percentage of the total posts so you just get drowned by the ignorance.
Of course, you can be as physical as you want to be but you can't deny fadeway jumper. Runover people and throw it up and pray it in, good luck.
now people are talking about streetball? wtf does that have to do with anything? lol this is the nba not an and 1 mixtape.
Not only that, the actual trends and momentum factors going INTO those finals was considered - The Celtics almost played the maximum 21 games of the first 3 rounds, playing 20. - Celtics played 14 games their first 2 playoff series. - The Lakers played 15 games their first THREE rounds COMBINED. - The Celtics barely scraped past beatable teams in a weak Eastern conference. Their older players appeared to be wearing down. - Lakers were the surging team making quick easy work of the stronger Western conference. Lakers beat the defending champion Spurs soundly in the WC finals. Who would YOU bet money on?
There's an obvious pattern going on: 'Well if he didn't have the body he had...' 'If he didn't get to be physical...' 'If there's only 3 seconds left in the game...' 'If they played on the street...' 'If they played magic unicorn basketball league where everyone has to stay 5 feet away from each other, they aren't allowed to jump high or run fast, only jumpshots allowed, and each quarter is only 5 seconds long...'
If LBJ weren't getting best star treatment of all time, he wouldn't be as good, simple as that. http://www.emptythebench.com/2010/01/26/lebron-james-fouls/
I've always found Laker/Kobe fan's backlash against James funny. Hearing them complain about unfair treatment by the refs or about too much 'hype', etc. etc. is utterly ridiculous considering all of us who aren't Laker fans had to hear the same crap when Kobe was coming up.
Jordan leaded the league in steals 3 times and he won the DPOTY award once. I don't think either Kobe or LeBron could top that.
In the end, it doesn't really matter why Lebron is as good as he is. He gets the job done. And for the past two regular seasons, he is getting the job done better (at least based on statistics, and probably in terms of regular season wins given his team's lack of talent) than any player in the modern era. Lebron and MJ have very different styles. Saying that Lebron isn't as good as Jordan because he doesn't have the jumper (debatable) or the refined post game (undoubtedly) is like saying that Hakeem Olajuwon was not as good as Kobe Bryant because he didn't have the perimeter game that Kobe does. You're making an invalid comparison because the players are very different. In the end, all that matters is the results, and Lebron has two seasons worth of results that are as good as any two season stretch from MJ, maybe even better.
In full denial mode I see. 1) We're talking about the NBA. WTF does street game have to do with it? How about if we're playing a game where no rapists are allowed I'll let LBJ decide my fate? 2) Bron has a stronger body than Kobe. He's 2 inches taller and way more muscular. Without refs available to call those "touchy fouls" LBJ would have an easier time just bullying Kobe around. He can back down Kobe and just dunk over him each and every time.
LOL goodbug keeps coming up with all sorts of lame arguments and you keep shooting them to the ground. Instead of replying to your posts he just comes up with an even lamer excuses. A Kobe fanboy accusing LBJ of getting star treatment is the LULZ
LOL, what excuse are we talking about? Like blaming the whole team for not showing up and wear a "check my $tats" T-shirt after embarrassing playoff upset? LBJ fanboys are all about stats. Last time I check, the game is about bling bling. We can all agree to disagree here.
Actually, in addition to the stats, a lot of people have been talking about how LBJ consistently leads his team to really good regular season records, despite the fact that he is not surrounded by quality talent.
context from the article: Lebron is in his 7th season, Jordan won his first title his 7th season. But Lebron is 2 years younger at the same point. Jordan was 27, Lebron is 25. Besides his PER pumping, Hollinger is mostly comparing them at the SAME point in BOTH of their careers. Its all you can do since Lebron is just in the middle of his career. What does hurt Kobe in that regard is Kobe didnt get to have the autonomy over a club like Jordan did until Shaq left. Though Kobe "statistically" didnt get the all-around numbers like Jordan or Lebron when given the chance, with Lebron playing with the SAME league rules as Kobe. We'll just never know there. At least Kobe got titles early and Lebron is having to play catch-up. At least Dwyane Wade got his out the way already.
