MLE? Give me a break! We all know that he's going to sign with LA for the vet minimum. That way LA can sign Lebron for the MLE when he's cut by Cleveland.

it is way too early to say whether or not this story has merit...you can't definitively argue for either side at this point as we need to see how this Rockets team gels. I'm sure Yao's primary goal is to win a championship, and believe me, that will supercede any allegiance he has to an organization. Both he and Team Yao realize he will ultimately be judged by championships.

Also, I tend to think that where there is smoke, there is fire, or at least some sparks. The Lakers are clearly making room for a big signing the year Yao is freed up, and he and Amare are the only guys worth putting off Kidd for...and which of the two do you think the Lakers REALLY want. Moreover, Bill Duffy is tight with the Lakers organization, particularly Kuptchak, so it wouldn't suprise me at all to learn that there have been some informal conversations between the two regarding Yao's future.

See, this line of thinking works counter to all the rags who suggest Yao would be better in another city. If China already follows the Lakers, why would the league want Yao there? Wouldn't the NBA be better served if China watched more than just the Lakers?

    Next thread, please.

I can't agree with this any more.

The media covering the major leagues are always looking to play up the big market cities. Look at how much more coverage the Red Sox - Yankees got, even before the Sox historic comeback, than the Stros - Cards. I was talking to someone here in MN the other day who knew all about the ALCS but wasn't even aware until the World Series who was even playing in the ALCS.

Its time for us Houstonians to get out and remind people that we are the 4th largest city in US.

Also even though I love Rudy I think a losing season will do wonders to knocking the Laker obsession down a few notches. I mean how much national coverage of the Bulls has there been since 1998.

You missed my point, the fact the KB already has 3 rings is what counts.

It doesn't matter how he got those 3 rings (with a bigman or not) it matters that as of now he has 3 years of major experience in playoff battles to get those championships.

Playing with somebody that has already led teams to the holy grail is much easier to ultimately get the titles than somebody who hasn't although T-Mac is a great great player.

I'm a Laker fan and a Rox fan. But let's put that aside for now. ;)

If Kobe wouldn't respect Shaq, Kobe would certainly make Yao his b**** if Yao was ever dumb enough to play for the Lakers.

Stay away from LA Yao, stay far far away!

I think Yao wants to be in the role-player position. That might actually be something that would attract Yao into moving to LA!

Ii think all these teams in Cali -- the Clippers, Warriors, and now apparently the Lakers too -- are trying to shave a few corners in salary, and are using Yao as an excuse.

Man, you don't know Yao and You don't understand Yao. Yao first is a great person at his age, which is only seen on Tiger Woods IMO. And second Yao will be a great player. He wants to be a leader in his mind and he knows by himeself he is just not there yet. ;)

Why Yao wants to play in LA when he knows he won't survival their running & gunning style? The Rockets with JVG has a slow tempo style in place, which fits Yao perfectly.

Yao would be exposed in LA, bank on it.

When the Lakers are the Magic trying to land Tim Duncan and they become garbage. We'll see, Yao's fine where he is. The lakers already have a sad looking crew, whether the rapist has 3 rings or not.

and i thought they didn't want kidd because he's 31, has 90 million dollars left on a 5 year contract, just had microfracture knee surgery, and even at his best was vastly overrated. but that's just what i thought.
