the way I see it,Kobe only has one option.......to opt out of his contract in 09' and take the minimum to come to Houston
RAY ALLEN, BACK IN 2004 "IF KOBE DOESN'T SEE THAT HE NEEDS TWO AND A HALF GOOD PLAYERS TO BE A LEGITIMATE PLAYOFF CONTENDOR OR WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP IN A YEAR OR TWO HE'LL BE CALLING OUT TO JERRY BUSS THAT 'WE NEED SOME HELP IN HERE', OR 'TRADE ME.'" ALLEN SAID... AND WE'LL ALL BE SAYING 'I TOLD YOU SO WHEN HE SAYS THAT'
Highly doubt it. Not only can other CONTENDING teams trump their offer (i.e. Bulls or Suns), but do you really see McHale (Celtic) taking a worse package to help LA out?
The Lackers should have shipped Kobe out instead of Shaq, they would have a better team and they would have gotten more for him. Now they should look to move Kobe (who will be greatly overvalued because of his scoring) for a package like Okafor, Knight, a re-signed Wallace, and the 'Cats 1 round pick.
Are you kidding.Shaq sucks now and is declining. KG and Kobe would be great. They would probably have to get rid of Bynum and Odom, but Garnett is worth it...
Lakers made the right choice in choosing Kobe over Shaq. What they got back is the problem, IMO. Just a bad trade.
Kobe already got rid of one team, now he is trying to get rid of another one. He should stop going 9/31 in 4th quarter and setup Odom/Brown in the low past and not let Bell get easy 3's, the Lake show might have stood a better chance in series. L.A. is actually not a bad team, their really just one good scorer and nice role player away from a 3rd or 4th seed in west. They should just acquire a few F.A. and bring everyone back and they'll will be good as new. C-Bynum/Brown PF-Odom SF-Lewis SG-Bryant PG-Bibby or C-Bynum/Brown PF-Odom SF-Wallace, G (Bobcats) SG-Bryant PG-Mo Williams (Bucks)
For Bynum + Odom and someone else? Maybe. Minnie would want all of Lakers potential talent - but if Minnie gets a good draft pick - why not rebuild? But I think they could get more for KG from another team.
I take your zero pity and raise you. I actually find some kind of happiness knowing that sometimes, just sometimes, people get what they deserve. BTW Kobe, you should've asked KG, Paul Pierce, and AI (last year) how it feels to get all the credit for carrying a team and not having to share the spotlight w/ another superstar.
Wow Ray Allen is genius! Suck it Kobe! You deserve this! But i dont understand why the lakers organisation so hesitate to trade Bynum. From what i see, it would be another 3-5 years before he becomes an impact player(Phil Jax questioned his works attitude, remember), by then kobe will be 32-32 years old and past his prime. If the lakers wanna win now, they have to trade Odom, Bynum, Farmar for KG and Mike James. Of cause I hope it never happen. Is always glad to see the best player in the league history(claimed by all those kobe wankers) struggles year in and year out!
Actually, Kobe has a good shot at a championship if the lakers management go in a a different direction. You guys remember the 2001 76ers, pretty much just had AI and some role players. Well if they build the lakers around that model then they will contend for sure since KOBE is >>>>> AI. The reasons why they suck now is that the players they have just dun have the right chemistry. The biggest problem is Lamar Odom. Lamar is a great player but he just cannot exist with Kobe, if you watch the lakers games, you will see that their offense involves either Kobe scoring the ball with Lamar standing around or vice versa, their games do not complement each other. They cannot be effective with each other on the court. Even though both of them are TOP talents in the league. If they got someone like kirilenko instead of Odom, they would be much better even though Odom is a better player than kirilenko. The second major problem with the lakers is similar to the rockets, they have atrocious defence from the PG position. In order to win the trophy, you either have to have major offensive production from the PG or lacking that, your PG must be a LOCKDOWN defender. PG defense is so crucial because nearly all defensive breakdowns start from the PG spot, if you cannot disrupt other teams from running their plays, then your wing players will get caught out in their rotations, and your big men will get in foul trouble. Everything starts from PG defense. And the lakers have even worse PG defense than the rox. If the lakers can trade odom for say kirilenko and giricek, then get jason kidd + collins for bynum + kwame + 1st round pick. On paper it doesn't look that much better, but the chemistry on that team will put them in the elite teams in the L, the only problem will be against teams with an unstoppable post presence, but most teams will have that problem, and you have the luxury to know that it comes down to whether Kobe can negate that by his brilliance.
If the Rockets had Kobe we would have already eliminated the Jazz right now. If Kobe wants to get some help he better fake an injury and sit out all year. That's the only way he's going to get another star caliber player on his team.
It is hilarious to see people still bash Kobe for driving away Shaq. Shaq? A over the peak player who always need to take half season vacation. And his team is 0 - 4 against Bulls. Remember?
You need to get your facts straight. The reason Shaq left also has to do with the fact that he wanted to be traded, and Jerry Buss wanted to get rid of him. I wish people would just stop distorting the facts.
