They want young/cheap talent. I can promise you if Melo is dealt, there will be at least three teams involved.

    I could see this happening

    Denver Receives:
    Jason Thompson
    Chase Budinger
    Jared Jeffries
    Patrick Patterson
    Anthony Johnson
    Omri Casspi

    Sacremento Recieves:
    Aaron Brooks
    Mike Harris
    Jermaine Taylor
    Jordan Hill

    Houston Recieves:
    Carmelo Anthony

    Lowry/Lee/Smith
    Martin/Lee
    Carmelo/Battier
    Scola/Hayes
    Yao/Miller/Dampier

This is assuming we also sign Dampier because losing both Patterson and Hill would hurt.

That wont get it done. The Nuggets are asking for a perenial All Star right now, plus future assets, plus cap relief.

The reason why AB keeps on getting brought up is because he is one of 4 All Star level players the Rockets have, with Scola, Yao, and Martin being the other three. So thats why the three team trade has to be the way to get this deal done.

Morey has shown enough confidence in Lowry to be as effective given the keys to the car, and thats why we think AB could be on the move to a third team who can swap a productive player of their own for Brooks. Its a difficult trade, but its essential if this deal is to happen before the end of the week.

Now here is more food for thought.....

Morey could have made an offer that he believes the Nuggets might take at the trade deadline out of desperation. So everytime they come back to him with a counter-offer, he just stays his ground knowing that he can get Melo at the trade deadline for his original asking price. Its a gamble, but if you want to get something for nothing, then that is Morey's best hand to play.

A desperation move on the part of the Nuggets will only happen at the trade deadline. So either its Brooks, Scola, or Martin are going to be moved this week, or I just dont see anything happening till the trade deadline. If I am Morey, as much as I love him...Brooks is on the trading block for a player like Melo.

I wasnt watching just now but was it Sportscenter "Right Now"? Could be wrong but think you're talking about the Denver Post report(which SC is/was talking about) which said the Rockets are exploring many options. (See a some posts above which shows the report)

Good to hear that Martin won't be traded. If he is, that is going to blow the morale in the team to smithereens....

I wouldn't go that far. It's not like Martin is our fearless leader.

My heart wants Martin to be traded, but my brain is saying Brooks.

^ denver gets raped in that trade

why would they want two young PFs with Martin and Andersen already playing the 4 spot there? Both Thompson and Patterson aren't versatile enough to play other positions effectively. That trade does nothing to help the Nuggets in the short term or long term. Casspi and Bud are nice prospect but neither have the potential of being a borderline all-star the way Brooks and Hill have

but no future picks or anything? Denver is better off taking the NJ trade and go from there

sacramento is by far giving up the least and getting the most back in that trade they would be head over heels doing a trade like that.

You obviously have to give up some picks. That's a no-brainer. I was just merely mentioning the players involved.

They could use Martin's large expiring down the line for a deadline deal or let it come off the books after the season.

We could net Anderson is a seperate, but simultanous deal with the Ariza TPE.

The one thing about this is Melo agreeing to sign his extension knowing that we are also losing our best healthy player. Melo can kill this deal if the roster we have today is the main reason he signs an extension.

Aaron Brooks, Chase Budinger, Jeffries (Salary) and 2 or three draft picks is the best deal available as we'll have a good enough team for Carmelo to sign for three years with and the Nuggets get solid young pieces and cap relief.

We'd have a hole at point, but its probably why Morey overpaid to keep Lowry.

    Lowry Lee (Sign Someone)
    Martin Lee Taylor
    Carmelo Battier Patterson
    Scola Hayes Hill
    Yao Miller (Dampier?)

That is the best starting 5 in the west in my opinion and is built to defeat the Lakers, though we'll miss Brooks tremendously.

Down for that so long as Battier comes back after a buy out.

can guarantee that if Battier is included in a trade he wont be bought out. Denver wanted him before and offered J.R. Smith but the Rockets declined. Granted now that trading Melo would put them in 'rebuild' mode they have less of a need for Battier but they can easily trade Battier to another team for a young player or a future first and cash instead of just buying him out even if all of the buyout money came from Les.
