I guess rockets offering Martin to match NJ's offer. Since Melo won't sign with NJ, it's no need for the rockets to offer Martin.

We just need to get this crap over with already.

If reports are correct and Melo won't sign the Net's extension and they aren't willing to give up Lopez, I don't see how we aren't the front runners.

I guess once Morey found out NYets aren't offering Lopez, he wasn't gonna offer Martin.

Martin is similar to Gasol in that he's an efficient consistent performer, will give a great performance day in day out, but you cant expect him to explode or lead the team to the promised land.

So Chicago/NYK are Carmelo's 1st choices, but they have the least to offer the Nuggets, while the NJN have the most to offer Denver, but Carmelo likes them the least, while the Rockets come in third in Carmelo's preference but can offer the 2nd best package to Denver....

I hope this report is true. I'm not in favor of a Melo deal if Martin's part of it. Brooks or Budinger, perhaps, but not Martin. The idea is to get appreciably better, and I don't see how acquiring Melo and giving up Martin would accomplish that.

I think the only concern for Melo coming to Houston is still Yao's health. Morey shouldn't announce the 24 minutes limit for Yao. But, I guess Morey didn't know Denver would agree to trade Melo so soon, and Morey wanted to go after Damper at that time.

I think Morey is the people's GM to a fault.

He's too media friendly, which can be a bad thing.

I still question Rockets' motives for leaking the Yao 24 minutes situation public. It doesn't do any good if your gonna attract a FA or even as a trade piece down the line.

Because they want to go afer Damper. You know he is a center.

BTW, isn't this news source a little outdated given the fact that it was reported on Friday that Houston wouldn't offer Martin?

That was 4 days ago. Maybe Morey knows that Melo will agree to sign the extension with the Rockets now and thus is willing to offer Martin.

Yeah but Dampier isn't gonna attract Melo to Houston. Yao is.

Either way, it sounds as though we have the assets for a Melo trade, but their are conflicting reports on where we stand on the totem pole.

i think this means he was never part of the offer, not that it changed.

I'm not sure it will be wise for Denver to pickup Favors. I have seen that kid play. And he is far from being a player than people expect him or potentially can be. Favors reminds of a young Stromile Swift. An athletic powerfoward with limited skills. In my opinion the Rockets has the best assets. The lists goes on with Budinger, Lee,Hill, Paterson,Martin,Taylor,Brooks, Battier, and Jeffries.

Or Morey found out that NYets aren't willing to part with Lopez so he lowered his asking price for Melo.

At that time, they only wanted Dampier. Announcing Yao's 24 limit was to tell Dampier that he would have a large amount of playing time in Houston. Of course, they didn't know Denver would be willing to trade Melo so soon. I guess Morey regrets it right now.

Then they shouldn't have leaked that info public then!

Surely Morey has Dan Fegan's number. He could have just texted or called him and told him about the Yao situation in private.

Unless someone in Dampier's camp leaked that info so they could get better offers from other teams.

Anyways, I don't think Melo should be concerned with Yao's 24 minute limit and that shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Battier, Jeffries, Bud and Johnson + picks for Melo and TE for Birdman should do it.

We'd have to include Brooks as well.

Melo was in China making a film. That influenced him. Not saying he's sold on Houston. But he was definitely influenced.

I think it's unnecessary. They have good PGs. I think they want a good potential big man. You know they want Favors, Noah, ...

    I think they want Hill/PP.
