"Since 1999, the Colts are 77-35 -- 70-26 when he plays, 7-9 when he doesn't, according to the Star. " I found this stat pretty interesting. I always thought his backups played fairly well.
thats why NFL contracts aren't guaranteed. You can cut James if he starts slacking off after a year or two. I dont know, he still has the vision. and you don't just fall forward for 1500 yards. i think with the zone blocking scheme which I believe the texans will be adopting next season, Edge will likely rush for 1600+ yards if he did come to the Texans.
agreed. if he would agree to say, a 2 year contract, i would definitely sign him. but i'm sure he's looking for more in the realm of a 5 year contract.
The Colts really reminds me of the Sac Kings (couple years back) of the NFL. They have the pieces and they are unstoppable in the regular season, but they just can't get over the hump. As for the Edge, I would love to have him. While he is aging and definitely not in his prime, he still is a very good back that can help almost any team. Not sure what kind of contract he wants, but for a team that likes to hand out big contracts anyways, it shouldn't be a problem.
He's not in a rebuilding mood...I'm sure he'll want someone that has an O-Line and that can win now, not a couple of years from now...
I told a buddy this and he disagreed with me and says edge is near the end of his career. He just rushed for 1500 yards in a pass heavy offense. I don't think he is done at all.
I find it comical and borders on lunacy for Edge to compare himself with Walter Payton. Or maybe then again I'm still bitter at drafting Edge a few years ago in my fantasy draft and him being a clunker of pick. Anyways, I would rather take DD over Edge anyday.
