I dont's understand why smart Morey not wanting AI at such low price. Even old Brent Barry could get a deal. Honestly this is the worst rox off season since I have ever seen!!!
i can see memphis parading iverson to contenders to try and swing a mideseason deal - after all the seasontickets were sold. AI is an asset. you can't deny it - allen iverson can still play.
Signing him to a 1 year 3.5M deal is not a mistake. AI will put more fans in the seats and I guarantee that Memphis has a better record than last years 24-58 with Zebo, AI, Gay and OJ.
I love clicking on a thread and stumbling upon posts like this. It's like unexpectedly coming upon gold in your backyard.
....Let's just say that I think there's a reason other great GMs like Kupchak and Buford weren't falling out of their asses to recruit the guy. Just a hint.
I'm impressed he wants to play badly enough that he would take a small salary even though he's already very wealthy, would play for a terrible team even though he's accustomed to success, and would be willing to come off the bench (it sounds like) even though he's always been the first option. Other players have retired rather than suffer the indignity. I suggest he use this year to find some hobbies or other things to occupy his time to help him transition to the retirement life.
Good job Chris Wallace! Now wait for Morey's phone call around the trade deadline. Mayo and Gay are belong to us!
I don't understand this move at all, for either Iverson or Memphis. I wouldn't want the kids on my team learning from him. I predict a maximum of 30 wins.
How? Maybe they'll compete for the all-time team record of games missed due to suspension. This signing must seem like Crystal Pepsi for Memphis. Yet it's probably going to play out like Crystal Gravy.
