You know I don't like you tinman, but on this topic I do argee with you. Hakeem is the only person that should be talked about doing his HOF induction. The only reason I brong up Mike was becasue BB said that the Big O was the greatest player to ever play the game. It had nothing to do with Hakeem.

You have a higher rank than any moderator, and more power than the common poster could ever dream of. Why don't you just ask for a Ban on all Espn links from the site? I've already stated my case against all bristol propagandists, but i was labeled paranoid.

I don't want to hide the truth that our Championships have been disrespected for so long, that this article crosses the line where the best player in our franchise can't even have an article just about himself on his HOF induction.

You and I know after we won back-to-back, we still had less TV time than Chicago.

The only time we ever started getting any decent amount of TV time was when Charles joined the team. Charles had a big Nike contract .

Nowadays we are on TV all the time. Yao makes the NBA so much money.

I agree. That article is a pure BS, but nothing is fair now.

But that's just one writer, is it?

I'm not pissed because he's an idiot, I'm angry because some dude's gonna read it and figure that Hakeem REALLY did win TWO rings just because Michael Jordan didn't play.

Bill Russell was the best player on a championship team 11 times.

...making him twice as good as Jordan, apparently.

Maybe, MAYBE if Michael Jordan, like Tiger Woods, was injured or otherwise physically incapacitated, I'd lend even the slightest credence to this unnecessary devaluation of The Dream's accomplishments.

But Jordan didn't get hurt, he retired. He very well could have played but simply chose not to. You can play "what if" had Jordan gotten injured, if the cruel fates had stolen away MJ's opportunity to win 8 rings. The only thing stopping Jordan was Jordan, and that's why idiot Adande's argument holds no water.

You dont see Jordan over there rebounding the ball. Or blocking shots. And you dont see Olajuwon over there getting assists. But theres a GOOD POST and theres an OKAY post this kind right here is an OKAY post. But you've got an awesome posts CONGRATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    thanks,

I notice how this thread is rated. seriously, #1, i didn't make this content up so it shouldn't be rated. #2, i'm guessing some here don't like the fact that i'm exposing the truth that the media hated our championship teams til this day.

ESPN spits on Dream with this article, that's not about him, its about Jordan or no Jordan. Also no mention of Dream making the finals in 86? you kidding me?

#2, they can't even find Les Alexander at the ceremony and the cameras goes on some random old dude.

if this isn't evidence than I don't know what is. Imagine the Yao fans wouldn't like it the media writes about Carlos Boozer during a Yao ceremony.

All Rocket fans should hate this article, its just sad that that's not the case.
The insult is so obvious, its in the title.

the problem is from 1984-92 was the Jordan era before 'baseball'.

Let's see all the great players that retired like Charles Barkley, Isiah, Magic Johnson etc

They all played in that era just like Jordan. When these players made it to the hall of fame, all we got were how great these players were articles,

    However,

when Dream who's actually won a championship, he's not the topic. What does that mean?

Look at Charles Barkley, played in the same era and drafted the same year and won no championships.

Why did our dear friend Chuck, not get any "Jordan or No Jordan" article? Clearly Jordan beat Chuck in the Finals, so you can directly say that he was responsible for Charles not getting a ring. (You can also make that case for Dream for 93-95, not letting Charles make it)

The "What if Jordan" is a diversion to the truth of this story and what we as Rocket fans in the past have seen.. the media HATED those teams. Mind you that I say those teams, cause we weren't the most marketable team in the world. Also, that 86 team broke the Lakers vs Celtics monopoly of the 80s and we got punished for that. Michael Ray got busted before Lloyd and Wiggins, why did they bust them AFTER WE BEAT THE LAKERS?

simple, the media and the league HATED the Rockets.

Today we are the darlings of the NBA, you see Yao's face plastered everywhere. Tmac sells tons of shoes.

Dream's story should stand on his own as a kid from Nigeria who came to Houston and put Houston on the Basketball Map. PERIOD.

    Let's face the truth.

Houston Rockets have never been and probably will never be NBA darlings.

Yao is interesting because he sells NBA to China. Hakeem couldn't do that because he was Nigerian.

Even when we won 22 games in a row ESPN questioned the value of that streak. Heck, give me any team in the world that has done that in the period of modern basketball.

I was actually surprised that nba.com has Hakeem's images when he was introduced to HOF. I thought that Monta Ellis ankle injury was more important or something...

What gets my blood boiling is that the Rockets never came close to making the Finals '91-'93 and '96-'98, with the exception to the Jazz series in '97, yet the media criticizes this team for stealing a ring from the Jordan-less Bulls both seasons for one of those two post-seasons.
Do people forget that Jordan played in the '95 playoffs and lost to a team in the second round that we swept in the finals? Please, save the excuses.
Yes, had the Rockets and Bulls been rivals and had a couple of matches in the Finals prior to '94 and the Rockets would always lose to the Bulls in that series, sure, I would feel feel like the '94-'95 back-to-backs were lame duck champs, but that clearly wasn't the case.
Houston was, has, and always will be hated by the media.

    WRONG

(I know you mean well but I have to correct you)

    1. The Rockets and Bulls never met in the playoffs

    2. Here's the log of all the games in the 90s vs Jordan's Bulls
    Date Result
    1/28/1993 Chicago Bulls 83, Houston Rockets 94 W
    12/11/1992 Houston Rockets 110, Chicago Bulls 96 W
    1/30/1992 Chicago Bulls 102, Houston Rockets 105 L
    1/25/1992 Houston Rockets 100, Chicago Bulls 114 L
    3/25/1991 Houston Rockets 100, Chicago Bulls 90 W
    1/3/1991 Chicago Bulls 92, Houston Rockets 114 W
    2/19/1990 Houston Rockets 102, Chicago Bulls 107 L
    2/1/1990 Chicago Bulls 112, Houston Rockets 139 W

note this game in 1990 at the apex of Jordan's athleticism and scoring, his team is the same championship team.

    Jordan
    Pippen
    Grant
    Paxon
    Cartright

Now look at the team that dropped 139 points on them (no horry, no maxwell, no kenny, no clyde, no cassell, no mario)

    Sleepy Floyd
    Mitch Wiggins
    Buck Johnson
    Dream
    Otis Thorpe

We WHIPPED them with BUCK JOHNSON and SLEEPY!!!
even Anthony Bowie scored 12 points!!!

Yeah, its perception not reality this Rockets vs Bulls thing. Yet you only see Bulls whacking teams on TV..cause that's what they wanted you to see.

Dream shot 77% from the field with 23 points, 10 boards, 5 assists, and 7 BLOCKS!!! this wasn't even the MVP Dream!

It's ironic now that Hakeem spends most of his time in Jordan.

I'm not saying the Rockets would lose the series. I'm just speaking theoretically, had they played in the Finals together prior to '94 and had they lost every one of those series, only then, and then only would I stand aside the media's hatred.
