I never said Carr was blameless... but it seems that some want to crucify him for this team's past performance before giving him a legitimate chance behind a real offensive line... and I think that's pretty short-sighted.

Yea, sure Carr could have been some amazing super-stud and lifted this team above and beyond its offensive struggles, lack of a real system, and lack of quality coaching... but name one QB in the past 20 years (besides possiby Elway) that was able to scramble/improvise/will his team to victory regardless of system, and simply based on some amazing play-making ability. No west-coast offense, no "fun and gun", no run and shoot products... but plain athleticism and heart.

Maybe Carr would have turned out differently if he had a guy like Kubiak, Bill Walsh, Mike Holmgren, or Mike Shannahan coaching him earlier in his career (a true Offensive genius, who has developed QB's and knows what it takes to succeed in this league). He never had that. There are just way too many variables going against Carr to not give him some benefit of the doubt.

    I'm pumped. :D

I'd love to see what Damien Rhodes can do in the NFL. I think he's got the ability to stick around.

    I'll also predict a .500 record. We'll go 8 and 8.

Donovan McNabb did pretty well for a couple of years with almost no offensive help. Then he got hurt, stopped running and hasn't been the same guy since. Before you even answer, I don't ever expect Carr to be as good as McNabb.

Carr doesn't need to be a standout QB. I'm way past demanding this from him just because he was the #1 pick in the draft. I just want to know he's steady and smart enough to be a starting QB on a Super Bowl team. He won't be good enough to LEAD the Texans to a Super Bowl, but he has to be good enough to not kill their chances.

Not fair. At least Donovan McNabb had a coach.

And a beast of an offensive line...and a defense that continually gave the offense chances at scoring.

McNabb has had 1 season in which his rating was over 86...that was the year with TO.

With the improved offensive line and the addition of Eric Moulds,Carr should shine in Kubiak's offense. He's still willing to step up in the pocket and whip out that gun. Also instead of just trying to stay alive,Carr's mobility will move the chains and help make big plays.
On Mario and the defensive - With the switch to the 4-3,our free agent and draft additions, and less time on the field, the defense has the potential to catapult into the 10 - 15 range.
    I think we're looking at a .500 year.
