Josh Smith isn't a bad aid fix he's only 28 years old. You can say he's just entering his prime. He would be a great option for us. I don't think we get CP3 or D12. I can't see breaking up the main core of the team
This will be a very interesting off season. The Rockets will have several options in which they could go with. We all know that Morey will be targeting Howard this off season. Howard will be a tremendous upgrade over Asik. Our offense is a run n gun, read and react, attack the rim off of pick n roll, a lot of plays set up for the 3 and ISO. Well gents Orlando ran a lot of these same plays. The big difference was Howard. He is that low post threat they we need. Howard will draw that double team that will open up our offense even more. Josh Smith would be a good pick up as well. Even though some will say that he is not that efficient. Josh could his that elbow jumper as well as the baseline jumper. Just imagine the pick n roll with him good peeps. He is also a good defender and rebounder. Something we dont have at the PF position.
I've seen a couple posters mention Tony Allen. Why would Tony Allen leave his current second round Memphis Grizzles to come to the Houston Rockets? I just don't see this happening. No way he leaves Memphis and you can't blame him for that. Yes, things happen, but I think those chances are slim to none.
LaMarcus Aldridge is the answer that will put us over the top with the current roster. Wish Portland would consider trading him though.

That's exactly the problem. We can't be intact and get LMA. They obviously don't want Lin (have Lillard), might want Asik, but getting LMA and losing Asik kills our team; not sure if that'd be a real upgrade. Parsons would certainly be required to be a part of the deal too, and I don't want to give up Parsons! No way POR suddenly agrees to give US of all teams LMA, even if they decide to trade him, just for some young PF prospects. We wouldn't even be able to match his salary, unless the trade is before we decline options on Garcia or Delfino...but why would they want them for LMA? lol
Morey's only targets should be Howard and Paul. There is no point in signing mid tier talent (Smith, Milsap, Jefferson). That's not enough to win a championship.
I agree. The Smiths and Milsaps of the world are nice players that would make the Rockets better, but not better enough to get us homecourt advantage in the playoffs, let alone contender status. We've got to use our capspace to sign a true STAR, and if that means hanging on to it for another year or even two, then that's what needs to happen, imo. Second-tier talent is useless to us, at the moment. We need a second all-star, and not a "fringe" all-star, either. Neither Smith nor Milsap nor even Jefferson is that guy.
To the poster that said JSmoove would not shoot 3s here....you are wrong. If Smith comes here what he won't do is shoot a bunch of long 2s. We'll have him spotting up at the 3-point line and taking the open set shot 3-ball in rhythm. He'll probably shoot them at about 35-36% in volume with his feet set. You don't know our offense and our system if you think he ain't gonna shoot the 3-ball here.

If we get Smith, then we could keep Smith. Lol this off season will be very interesting. Now Milsap and Big Al might be on Morey list as well.
Don't think Josh Smith fits at all. He is more of a style than substance player. He does have an all around game - an adequate not great jumper, some passing and some post moves but is not too great at anything except dunking and shot blocking. As a one on one defender, he doesn't really lock down his man, or doesn't fit well in a team defense concept because of too much gambling to block shots. I say spend the money elsewhere because dunks do not have a place in Moreyball.

McHale is having a hard enough time trying to get this young team to play quality, non-selfish offense and adding Smith to that doesn't help. "If he would just listen to his coach and stop taking those long 2's..." meh. he's had 9 years in the league to "listen to his coach" and he hasn't changed his game. What makes you think he'll do it for McHale ? yeah, he's great at running the floor - but we don't need someone to help with the fast break. We need someone to help with the half court offense, because that's what gets you wins deep in the post season. to me, a superstar is someone who can dominate on both sides of the ball. We're already paying Harden superstar money for playing only offense. To pay Smith big bucks for defense is basically carrying two max contracts for the production that 1 should buy you. the next guy we write a big check to better be able to take over a game consistently on offense or defense. otherwise we'll become... well... like the hawks.
I'd be curious what Morey's numbers say about Atlanta, clearly Morey would have figured out Atlanta (and everybody's) defensive strategies, so he'd be able to get some figures for it.
JSmoove or Josh Smith or J Smith, whatever, I've seen enough Hawks games to know that he's a bonehead that plays very good defense. However, his offensive game is elementary and would stunt the growth of team. Plus his want to be the man would not work as Harden is already that and 5 years younger. Josh throws up illegitimate shots at the rim because he hasn't take a shot in a while, jogs back on defense, and his bball IQ is definitely lacking.
