J.Smith is Top3 assist, block, steals among PFs. His D is good, but his offense is average. 29th in Field-goals percentage 39th in Free-throws percentage 10th in Rebounds And he cannot be a 3 point shooter in our system. We can't improve our frontcourt offense by signing him.
A lot of teams would jump at the opportunity to give 1st round pick for TRob. Lottery protected of course. If Marcus Morris can get you an early second Trob can get you a first. Personally I think we've seen the last of Trob in a Rockets uniform. I like the kid but the number one spot we need to upgrade is PF. If that happens than you can't have 3 second year PFs sitting on the bench. And TRob is by far the most expensive. Every year he sits is a year his trade value goes down. He does have the most upside but he also needs the most improvement. So adios Trob.
To all those who complained and were furious about James Harden's shot selection at times, oh wait till you have the Josh Smith experience! In my 20+ years as an NBA fan, i have never heard a home crowd literally scream "DON'T SHOOT!" at a particular player up until i watched Hawks games. And the screams were consistent too.
There was never a benefit for "us" per se in the first place. The new cba simply removes the benefit a player would have received in wanting a S&T. Our benefit remains the same, getting rid of a player that ate up salary cap space.
10th in rebounds, and while 29th in FG%, you're ignoring the fact that he shoots 77% at the rim...pretty confident he would help our frontcourt offense, even setting aside how good he'd be on the fastbreak. And I think he can be a 3 pt shooter in our system. We were all touting DMo as a 3 pt shooter in our system, and he has a lower % from there. JSmoove is 31% from 3 pt range, but 38% from the right wing. He doesn't have to actually shoot that many 3's as much as he just needs to be respected from there to spread the floor.
You always have the option to trade those same players for picks rather than just throwing them away as salary dump.
Absolutely. S&T is just another option. If we can move them for picks, all the better. Just a matter of availability and timing.
I think TRob is gone too. He hasn't shown enough in a clogged position. I disagree on a lot of teams jumping at the opportunity to get TRob for a 1st round pick, but I'm basing that off nothing but gut, so you could absolutely be correct here. I'm not too sure about TRob's market value at this point.
Essentially all he said was Lin had a solid year (hard to argue with that) and he was fortunater that Houston had Harden to take the spotlight off of him. Do you think Lin had more than a "solid" year?
Sad to say Jeremy didn't bring much in this playoffs. If he just play average himself, the Rox will win. So he must take some responsibility. Said it again and again, if he doesn't see how big a gap between him and an elite PG and use this summer to improve his skill substantially, he is an idiot and will quickly be a bench player in 2-3 years.
Yeah, I think solid is the right word. Maybe I misinterpreted what he was saying about Lin because he was under "the bad" part of the article. I was kidding about the "because he's Asian" part of my post. However, I do read/hear lots of people write/say that Jeremy Lin is limited athletically, or not quick enough, or not strong enough. Even though he's in the the bigger, more athletic group of PGs. Obviously not at the level as the great ones (Rose, Westbrook) but he's above average in athleticism IMO.
Really? He's 28 and one of the premier defenders in the league. He has the athleticism to be an asset on the running game.
Before the new cba, I would have said max money. Now? I'm not so sure. I think $15M/4 yr deal will be the best offer he gets. I don't think it is ridiculous that we could snag him for ~$14M/4 yrs.

I disagreed with the part where he says Lin would've played much worse without Harden since defenses would key in on him. If anything Lin's shown that he can put up bigger numbers when he's the main ball handler. A great example of that is when Harden sat versus the Spurs and Lin had his biggest game of the year. We're obviously better with Harden, but I do think it's wrong to suggest Lin wouldn't have put up much better numbers if Harden weren't on the team which is what the article says.
Lin was also playing hurt for the beginning of the year. His numbers after the all star break have been pretty good. I could see him EASILY be 15 pts, 6.5 assists next season just based on his last few months of work. His FG% and 3pt% have shot up quite a lot, and while he lacks the lateral quickness to be a great defender, and overhelps on defense WAY too much...he is at least an average defender, particularly man-on-man defense, and above average PG defender in the post. Interested to see how much his shot improves over the summer, and his decision-making. He's got the court vision, but has to have better control on it.
