at this point Yao has to be an huge contributor but no longer THE man anymore with his unpredictacbility

if hes the door in which we hinge everything on then we're in trouble.. once again

Shhhh, dont say that too loud. You know who i think would be really good for the rockets? Tayshaun. If his medical clears out, i love the way he plays the 3 spot. He is a very good ball handler and decision maker. Still plays great defense, runs the floor, and has a great bbiq. I would take him over battier and ariza any and everyday. Just as i would take iggy over martin. Brooks, iggy, prince, scola, and yao with hill, chase, lowry, hayes, the draft pick, and mbenga off the bench is a pretty good team.

That goes for every NBA player. If you hinge everything on Lebron the Cavaliers are not a championship team. It is just stupid to think if Yao comes back in top form (and I believe there is a good chance he will) he will not be the main man on offense. A healthy Yao is still the best player on our team. On a nightly basis Yao is dominantly better than any other center in the league including Dwight Howard. Can you say that about any other player on our team.

I do agree that Yao's minutes should be lessened and when he is not on the court you turn the reigns over to others. But If Yao is healthy and there is no reason to think otherwise, (He has improved after every injury to date) when he is on the court you have to take advantage of his dominance. Yao draws doubles and triples. Teams have designed defenses solely focused on stopping him from getting the ball because when he has it he is so dominant. That is such a big advantage and would be stupid not to utilize it. You can't focus so much on one player without leaving openings all over the court.

The few teams that think they have centers that can match Yao one on one get destroyed by him. And teams that spend so much emphasis on fronting and cheating with weakside help will pay for that strategy as well. It is ridiculous to say when Yao returns he will not be the focal point of the offense. What are you going to do put in a role like Chuck Hayes. Play in the high post and have him be a passer. That may work for moments but to think that is the offensive scheme we would consistently run with Yao on the court is idiotic. Just retire him now if that is the case.

Just listen to Daryl Morey. Everything he says is our plan is built around Yao. Our chances on Making to the finals are all built around Yao. If Yao cannot come back we are toast. And Yao comes back and he is crap we are also toast. We are an average team without Yao. If Yao is back at full force you can remove any other player on the team and we will still be better than this year. Anyone who doesn't think Yao is still the most valuable player on our team doesnot understand the Rockets.

Fortunately Morey does. What Yao brings to the team is on both sides of the court. Martin, Brooks and Scola may be decent ofensive options but they are liabilities on defense. Ariza and Battier may be defensive specialists but they are liabilities on offense. Yao is our best player on offense and defense. If you get ball in his hand down low he can not be stopped. If he is healthy we will when a championship. If he is not we will at best make the playoffs.

In this league you win Championships around stars and Morey emphasis's that everytime he speaks. He said he is betting on yao returning to All Star. He says it is reasonable to think it is a risky bet but quite frankly they don't have any better. If Yao is not the best player on our team we what we have then we are toast.

    Nice Post ..

A player who cannot be stopped 1 On1 and will be a big reason for teams defensive improvement next year cannot be called a "COMPLIMENT" player.

    couldnt agree more...

the days of relying on yao or yao and tmac or whatever are done, we are building a balanced team with a balanced attack, ala the kings of the 90s...

we have relied on yao far to long and he has broke our hearts year after year, i wish we could trade him but thats almost impossible considering his contract, injury history, and the chinese market he bring with him. i have nothing personal against, when he is healthy he is supreme talent and he is a great man that has overcome a lot in his life. im just sick of having the hopes of my pride and joy houston rockets depending on the health of a 7'6 giant who will be prone to injury his whole life...

Really?? A Bosh type player doesn't come around all the time. Also, because he would be a SnT We can possibly get a steal of trade to get him. If he's available and wants to play in Houston there is no way we wouldn't want him.
