Me too, so stop with the speculation already. How many years has it been since he was drafted?? Of course he and his family are over it. I don't think anyone seriously thought he would hold a grudge for his career. Houston is home for Rashard. He's always been a Rockets fan, so the idea of coming home to be a part of the newest group of up-and-coming Rockets, getting a new stadium will be gravy to a player like him. His talents speak for themselves, but he's not stupid. He knows that anything can happen and in a flash his chance at big money could be gone. Those days have turned into almost 2 weeks, pops. IMO, give Lewis about 10-14 more days and we'll hear something more concrete. As enticing as coming home may be, he's not done posturing with Seattle just yet. Money talks, even if it is "only" 60 million dollars. I expect them to up their offer, but if they don't I expect the Rockets to extend their MCE.
i really think that the rockets have the best chance of landing reshard, cause if he really wanted all that money in seattle then he would have taken it by now. but obvisouly he trying to stay at home in houston to play with the rockets. he was probaly home sick in seattle. who knows?
it tells me he wants alotta money and stay home in houston...so he jus wants that sign and trade to work..jus my opinion but thats what im seeing...
Yeah money is what he is after.I read in the Seattle Times that no further progress has been made in the talks, but that shows that Rashard's first choice is still probably going to be the Sonics if financial terms can be worked out.
DesertScar, the Sonics didn't want to take Mo-T,they wanted Griffin instead,Rice can come off thier roster the following year but they didn't want him either prefering a resigned Walt. Boki can't be traded as you have pointed out until a later time but I would like to keep him even if Lewis decides to join the Rockets. It might give us a Peja/Hedo like combination.
Remember China vs. USA. The Chinese defense let in a constant stream of penetrators, and Ming got in foul trouble. Just because you have a shot blocker(or two) doesn't mean you can get away with playing no perimeter defense.
if lewis comes here for 7yrs 40mil. I'd be the happy. Becasue that is a bargin. But anything more than what cato makes will not be good. Thank god Rice's contract will be up in 2 years. That will free up al ot of money.
i wouldn't say rice plays good defense or even average but he does it better than rashard. what he doesn't have in foot speed, lateral movement, or general athleticism, he makes up for with good positioning. rashard has no clue what he's doing.
A bag of doritos and a Dr Pepper is too much for Lewis to mess up this team . and that he will do if he comes here for the MCE BECAUSE he will feel the need to put up big numbers to get max next year ...as you can see all he cares about is the money Here we have a team concept not alot of ball hogs..as you will see in this next season ...so if Lewis were to sign for MCE it would be so he could get more money next year ...and that wont happen here He will not be the focus of this team and thats what he needs to get MAX.... So I say again.. WE DONT NEED LEWIS .....
We got Griffin, Nachbar and Rice to split 48 minutes. Do we really want Lewis? Plus it would be better if Rudy let Griffin log heavy minutes and develop his game further. Lewis will split after a year unless he really wants to stay for less. Who in their right mind would turn down 60 mil!!? I can't see it happening. Besides there are not enough shots to distribute. Let's get some vets on the minimum for locker rooom presence.
Sign Lewis to 1-yr MCE and see how team develops. Yes, Boki logs less minutes, but it gives him a year to adjust to NBA game. Rice becomes our "Eddie" off the bench. Plus if Boki can play some back-up 2 then he gains some gain experience and fills a need. After a yr on the team, homeboy may decide he'll take less to stay in Hou and play with a potential championship dynasty. If SEA would take MoT in a sign-in-trade, that may be best course for long-term. However, we'll have to wait until their a bit more desperate.
I think Seattle should do a sign and trade they should sign Rashard and then Houston should trade Walt,MOt, and maybe Tierre Brown,Tito MAddox,or Kyle HIll one of those point guards, because rockets already have 5 pointguards and i Think Kt is way better then MOt and we don't need Walt Williams anymore.
Let Lewis go somewhere else and prove he is worth the money he wants. The general gist on this board seems to be great to have but not at the price. I agree. He is jumping the gun a bit. He is still very young and 2-3 years away from entering his prime, whatever level that is. If he turns out to be the real deal then you sign him for the money he deserves and maybe a slight hometown discount. It's his choice. Right now he ain't worth the risk. Rice is not tradable for two years. Cato is not for several years. We can't afford to gamble that kind of money again soon. Sorry, Shard!. Would I trade Cato and Taylor or Rice to get a reasonably priced Lewis? Probably, but I also want a Potapenko or Barry in the deal.
