I beg to differ. It's a product of bad design that centers around retaining McHale as the head coach in the first place. If the playing style be iso-Harden as the main weapon, why should Melo and Bosh be really interested in the role of 2nd fiddle? In case of either, if Houston were the only team ready to make max offer, they might have come. But contenders are not dummies who never adjust. So, it's nothing to do with bad luck, but bad design.
Iso Harden is not the main playing style the Rockets use. It is a definite minority. I don't remember the thread but someone put a percentage of the times the Rockets use Iso Harden and definitely was very low. If Iso is what you're worried about Melo was never the player for the Rockets to get. I may end up being very upset about the off season, or I may end up being filled with a glimmer of hope that whatever happens will be the kind of under-the-wire against all odds type of team that the Rockets have won with before. Either way, I'm going to wait until the off season is over before making a final judgment.

Durant 2016 would be awesome and Morey can rebuild our supporting cast til then but it's just gonna suck to wait until then. I just wish we had done this in order to land Wiggins instead of trying to go into win now mode. These "quick" routes to a championship run haven't gotten us anywhere. We should have won one with Yao if only he hadn't gotten injured against Portland and LA. That was a killer team. meh..
