CD said earlier that they would pay the luxury tax if needed. I think that they felt that Posey just wasn't worth that kind of money, especially at the end of his contract. I think if they could pull SAR from ATL with out getting raped, they'd go into to luxury land for him. He only has 2 more years on his deal which could be more enticing to the Rocks.

Repeated injuries to all three destroyed that potentialy awesome lineup. I believe that, had they been healthy, stayed together, and kept egos in check, that team would be better than the current offensive juggernaut the Maverick are today. At least they would play better defense.:D

No if Eddie Griffin is the key to the future then we are DEAD! In that case we have no future...

I don't think this is a reasonable trade.
Why would Atlanta want to ship Shareef of all of their guys when he is a hometown guy?

Not sure I understand your point. Dallas made all of those picks. Only Kiki did not serve time in Dallas as he refused to play here. I stress that all of those are Dallas picks not players recieved in a trade.

You knew a trade talking about atl and SAr that I wouldn't be too far away. I still like us getting rid of players and contracts to get SAR. I like Mobley with all his short comings, but I still think Mobley,Taylor and Griffin for SAR,Glover and a future pick makes more sense.Francis,Pike/Griffin/Hawkins,Nachbar/Rice,SAR and Ming matches up really well with anyone in the West. Every night you know that you's get the pts and rebs from Francis,Ming and SAR, to go alone with the compliments in the other players would go along with making this team more than a 1 and done in the playoffs. Many will disagree, but i still hold true to this.

No doubt, This would be the best trade ever this season for the Rocks. Rahim is just simply awesome, I would even give Taylor also for this man.

While I dont share ur enthusiasm, the Rocks would benefit from this trade.....I still kinda wanna give Eddie a year under JVG and see what happens.

i think this would be good move b/c we need a guy who is willing to be unselffish to win ballgames and i think he is one of the more underrated talents in the league...and atleast you know he's sort of like a lamar odom with a better head and less ballhandling which we dont need. i think he would fit in great with yao. what do you all think bout that?

I know nobody really thinks that highly of MOt's contributions, but I don't give up Mo Taylor, he actually plays his a--off; and came back from injury. He's got heart, I can't say that about SAR...I get rid offf Eddie even with all of his potential, I'm like Bill Parcels, potential is nothing if you don't do anything with it! A winning attitude is sorely lacking in our organization, a team concept, and Mo's got it. Cato's got it finally, Yao's got it, its our stupid backcourt players that don't, but I have a feeling that's gonna change...

Brian (Philly): So I read the Insider article with the ATL-HOU trade proposal. I was wondering if there was any chance this might actually happen...? Are there any discussions going on, that you know of?

Chad Ford: The proposal was Shareef Abdur Rahim for Glen Rice and Eddie Griffin. I think Houston would love to make that deal, but Atlanta isn't sure they want to give up on Abdur Rahim just yet.

IMO, this would be a trade deadline deal if it ever happened. That would give ATL and Houston a half a season to see if Griffin and Rahim can finally make the type of impact that their respective teams think they should be able to make. If not Rice still gets SAR off of ATL's books by the end of the season and clears lots of cap space and Houston still gets a player that can come in and be an all-star caliber small forward.

I hate to be selfish, but I think my trade proposal makes more sense when dealing with the Hawks. SAR,Glover and a future pick for Mobley,Taylor, and Griffin. Why does this make sense? Francis,Griffin,Nachbar/Rice,SAR,Ming as a starting lineup gives you a solid low high post combo with Ming and SAR along with consistent rebounding. Adding SAR and subtracting the 14shot Mobley took along with the 16 Griffin and Taylor took could be redistributed to Ming,Francis and the rest of the team. SAR will basically take Mobley's shots(14) and get you 20 because he's a higher fg% scorer. Having Griffin in the lineup gives you a chance to get Francis off the pill sometime and do other things in the offense. Off the bench comes Norris,Pike,Rice/Nachbar,and Cato and now have a team not worrying about shots. How does this help ATL? They traded Robinson and drafted Boris Diaw,a point forward. Terry and Mobley in the backcourt to go along with Diaw and either Taylor or Griffin toplay the 4 gives that team a decent offensive team. On the financial front, it evens out. Some may think we're giving up too much, but i think of adding by subtracting. Plus with SAR, you know every night against every player what he will bring,20ppg,8-10rebs,48%,and 3 asst every night. On top of that, he's a good citizen and never complains.
