How are Deandre Jordan and Lebron not even honorable mentions?

 

Even worse: Durant as honorable mention due to an improvement and Lebron not mentioned.

 

Why is Hibbert a joke as the DPotY? He's fantastic on defense. Sucks offensively though.

Also, Lebron has coasted this year defensively. The Heat are worse with him on the court defensively. But sure, let's let perception just carry voting. Let's vote Kobe for all defensive team for fun as well.

 

And he sucks at rebounding. He's averaging 6.7 rpg at 7''2. He had one tonight in 34 mins!

 

Yeah, securing the rebound is a big part of defense. I would dock him some points for that but he's still a great defensive player. I think it's fairly close between him, Noah, and Dwight this year. I'd probably give it to Noah because of the versatility the article mentions and just to recognize how great he's played this year overall.

Not sure about Jordan, but you should go see where LeBron ranks on their stats.

 

Rubio has the 2nd highest DRPM at PG position, but his opponents are shooting a stunning 54.9 efg%. Can anyone tell me how that makes sense? I've also never seen him as a lockdown-defender. Is defensive rapm that focused on steals?

 

Hibbert doesn't even deserve 1st Team, much less DPOY.

Not at all. Rubio is a great defender. Rubio usually guards whoever the best guard on the other team is. Minny's pick and roll scheme is also horrible. They sink down low way too much with their bigs so whoever Rubio is guarding gets reasonably open shots.

He's a fantastic defender IMO. Eye test and numbers show it. Rubio has fantastic size for the position but is still pretty quick and slithery. He can get around screens quite well. He's long enough to bother most guards.
