RIET and Duece, even if he doesn't turn out well he will be off the books in 2 years (far sooner than Cato) or we resign him for far less. Including in the trade with Griffin would be Atl's probable #8 pick--so it isn't like we would not get a very good prospect out of that.

Still I understand ya'lls concern, and I don't expect Ratliff to be what he once was, but he could be that one PF/back-up C that we have who is formidable on defense (unlike Mo) and good enough to keep you honest on offense (unlike Cato & Griff).

Corrrect me if I am wrong but Atlanta does not have their first round pick this year. It belongs to the Bucks in the Glen Robinson trade.

    lol...good points and ideas.

    But it's not that tempting.

    Steve Francis/Moochie Norris
    Cuttino Mobley/James/Juaquin Hawkins
    Glenn Robinson/Posey/Bostjan Nachbar/Terence Morris
    Maurice Taylor/Theo
    Yao Ming/Ratliff

Hmm...Cuttino Mobley and Moochie Norris will both still be on the team.

And they don't have a 1st round pick anyways?

    I wouldn't give up another 1st round pick again...and don't make the playoffs. :(

How does ESPN get such news? Why cann't is read on ESPN:

    1) "Rockets working a deal to get Kidd"
    2) "Rockets intrested in Brand"
    3) "Rockets talking with Payton"
    4) "Rockets looking at Bobby Jackson and H. Turkoglu"

I cann't figure out why we would want Glen Robinson. The guy cann't even prosper in the Leastern conference. I'm confused at this move or even the suggestion of this move.

I HOPE ESPN sider is dead wrong.

    lol...you are kinda late.

Anyways...if it is Glen Rice for Glenn Robinson straight up...I still don't see how it is bad.

And even if it actually happened...if he really does suck and is a cancer, then man. After three months, TRADE HIM!!!

Whatever we get is probably more than what we would get by trading Rice.

    BUT THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN!

I forgot about Atl giving up that pick. I think that also means they couldn't offer next year's pick--as ripe as that one might be.

How about Ratliff + Atl's unprotected 04#1 for Cato & EG
    ....or if not allowed....

How about Ratliff for Cato + Mooch + a future #1 pick (05 or 06)?

Robinson was a stud in college at Purdue, but he really hasn't been the player I'd thought he would be in the NBA.

We need a mean PF who doesn't shoot 3's. We need a bruiser, somebody who will knock you down when you come in the paint and Robinson is not the guy for that.

Although Glenn Rice is fairly worthless now, and I wouldn't mind trading him for just about anybody except maybe Vin Baker (worst contract ever in the history of the NBA). I simply can't respect Rice since he can't even get his fat butt in shape. I'm not in the NBA making millions of dollars, and yet I can keep myself in decent shape and it's not even my job to do so, so why the hell can't Glenn lose 20 lbs.?

I've got a legitimate question, WHY DOES THE ROCKETS MANAGEMENT ALWAYS SIGN PLAYERS TO 6 YEAR DEALS?
It just doesn't make sense to me. It is just too risky to sign somebody who is fairly unproven at the time (i.e. Maloney, Cato, Norris, etc) to such deals. Francis and Ming, I can understand because they are a sure bet, but those other guys aren't marquee players.

i do not want robinson. i do not like him as a player. Also i think we do not need another player who wants to shoot alot. The payer i would love to have is brand, but i just do not see that happen. I would like a banger on this team. not a player like robinson who just likes to shoot alot.
