I think it's all well and good that Redick tested out rather well in his measurables. Clearly that will help him. And he may in fact be a solid player in the NBA.

But on the Rockets,I am sorry but I am still sticking with my Draft Ronnie Brewer, Sign Mike James plan.

I like all the skillset that Brewer brings to the table, the versitility to perhaps play FOUR positions on the court and his defense.

I agee that shooting is hugely important for this team. In that regard I recommed signing Mike James and then perhaps using the #32 pick on a gunner in the Novak/Gansey mold. The Rockets just need to find a role player shooter that can come off the bench at key moments when needed much like Jon Barry did for the Rockets 2 years ago.

But for the long term, I like the skills that Brewer has and think he can mesh very well with Tmac and Yao.

Good post. I like that setup with Mike James.

However, what happens if we don't sign Mike James?

There is no better shooter on planet earth that is available for the Rockets to sign than J.J. Redick.

This isn't a unique plan, please stop acting like it's patented. In fact you posted it about 2 weeks after catalyst's such as myself started the Ronnie Brewer bandwagon (I can send you links via e-mail if you wish). Sorry if this comes off as harsh, it's just a pet peeve of mine.

Ok Ronny, we'll make sure to give you all the credit as the catalyst. We sure wouldn't want to deprive you of your glory. I'll go look for a plaque and we can engrave those hyperlinks on it.

Not to come off as harsh or anything, but I could really give a rip as to who talked about it first, second, sixth, tenth or whatever. Since when did I say it was uniquely my plan?

I just want the Rockets to get better and feel very strongly in my position on which players to add and that's why I started a thread on it. And in doing so it appears there are a lot of people that feel the same way. Cool.

Look, I have been on these boards since the beginning, so I think people know where I stand.

Superior scoring and superior drawing fouls. Basically superior offense. Since the Rockets defense is top 3 in the league in OPP FG% even with Yao and TMac missing half the season, I think we need ofense a bit more. Also, if Brewer is spending significant time playing any position besides 2/3, then the Rockets are in big trouble.

This annual pre draft tale of the tape is becoming one of my favorite threads.

The Draft Express article was excellent, too.

That's not what I was suggesting at all, and if you look at my post history I am not trying to take credit for anything. On the contrary I could quote your last 20 posts and it would be a totally different story.

I'm here to talk about basketball so let's leave it at that.

look just cause he isn't a shooter doesn't mean he can't hit. a year ago his 3 pt shot was at 39% and he probably wasn't as open as he will be with Yao and Tmac. he will get his

No, it looks like he is the better athlete, that does not mean that he will be the better NBA player.

Lots of average athletes excel due to hard work and quick smarts.

Stockton, Bird, Malone, Magic, Hornacek, Reggie, Mullin, etc..etc..etc..

Uhh.... Brewer has exactly that. I'm not sure you've read too much about Brewer.

this is true, but if you're going to argue brewer vs carney, everything i've read seems to indicate carney is the one with the motivational problem. add that to his lower athletic performance to brewer and that's why i made that statement.

obviously i don't know who's going to be the better player but with what i'm looking at i have no interest in taking carney over brewer if both are sitting there at eight. honestly i hope we just take reddick but would still be happy with brewer.

Way to cherry pick his one good season. For his college career, he was on par with Terence Morris as a 3 pt shooter. The same Terence Morris for whom the Rockets threw away a first round pick. TMo went on to average 0.196 from downtown in the NBA. The line in the NBA is further back, so unless you are a good 3pt shooter in college, you probably won't be one in the NBA.

I don't watch a lot of college basketball, other than a couple seaons games for hyped up players and the tourney, because I just think the NBA is a better overall product, so I have not seen Brewer play, but these numbers are really impressive. Every since rumors started floating around that Brewer was a potential Rocket pick at no. 8, I did a little research on him and they talked about his athleticism, but wow. After these numbers, Im actually excited about the possibility of this Brewer playing alongside T-Mac and Yao. Imagine a double team on Yao, while Brewer dashes into the lane and Yao gives him a sweet over the defenders dish and Brewer puts down a nasty dunk!

The table made it all kooky. If you don't do them right, the tables don't get along with the board. I noticed it when I tried to paste an html table from another site.
