Cardinals got destroyed, Astros played an extremely close series. Learn the facts.

The Astros had a better postseason 2 years ago because the Yankees suffered an embarassing loss to the Red Sox after being up 3-0. Pathetic. The Yankees are the worst franchise in professional sports history.

How can you argue that it was a close series. Astros got swept. The individual games were close, yeah, but how the heck was the series close? And are you Bill Walton?

Umm...let's not get crazy now...I dislike the Yankees as much as anyone. But, the fact remains that their franchise has 27 World Championships. I know you might be speaking out of emotion, but chiiiiiiiill.

I have. Imagine all the pollution you possibly can, as many rude and arrogant taxi cab drivers as possible, and of course as many homeless people as you can imagine and you've got New York City in a box :).

Of course I'm semi-kidding, but I didn't care for the Big Apple first time there.

Perhaps a general question, are all taxi cab drivers complete assholes and terrorists?

I think burzmali doesn't like the Yankees because he is a jaded Red Sox fan.

I guess it was tough cheering for guys like Manny, Derek Lowe, Trot Nixon, Nomar, Time Wakefield, Pedro...

I think it was generally regarded as the closest sweep in history. Yes the Astros did lose 4 games to none, but just looking at the final series score doesn't reveal the whole picture. They were 4 insanely close games, that could have gone either way. The Astros catch break in those games that instead went to the Sox, they could have easily swept.

Hey,I'm as big an Astro fan as you get, hats off to the White Sox though...They were simply playing on another level.(Any chance went bye bye in losing game 1 when Clemens was injured)
On Roger,I would assume the plan was always to stay in Houston....and stay in Houston.

Great, we get Roger back and that's one hole in the rotation filled. Leaving two remaining, Buchholz/Nieve and the pitcher formerly known as Andy Pettitte.

Wandy's not losing his job... its likely that Nieve will be the odd man out. Frankly, Nieve may be more valuable to us as a middle-releif guy (which is probably why the Astros haven't made a move to shore this up... they know that they got one starter moving there if Clemens comes back).

With the way Fernando has been pitching... strong early, starts getting hit hard when teams see him for the 3rd time... he'll be the best candidate (unless Taylor continues his pattern of 12 ER, 8ER, 9ER, Shutout, 9ER games...)

You misunderstood, I don't think there's any way that Wandy loses his job. I think both Taylor and Nieve are terrible, and wish we had Backe on the way back as well so that we could exile both to the pen or AAA. Over the course of the season I've seen small improvements in Nieve and a huge backslide from Buchholz, so imo I'd rather see the latter be the first to lose his spot.

Most of what Rocker said was spot on. Don't discount the factual basis of his comments simply because he's a racist.

by the way, did steve phillips write this report? he was on baseball tonight last night talking about how clemens wouldn't come to houston now, since they're only a game over .500.

i wish baseball tonight was even moderately objective about the 'stros. kruk hates on biggio, which means he roots against the astros. every year they say the same thing...THIS will be the season the astros disappoint their fans and fall to mediocrity or worse. makes it tough to watch that show.

So you stand by this crap:

On ever playing for a New York team: "I would retire first. It's the most hectic, nerve-racking city. Imagine having to take the [Number] 7 train to the ballpark, looking like you're [riding through] Beirut next to some kid with purple hair next to some queer with AIDS right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It's depressing."

On New York City itself: "The biggest thing I don't like about New York are the foreigners. I'm not a very big fan of foreigners. You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anybody speaking English. Asians and Koreans and Vietnamese and Indians and Russians and Spanish people and everything up there. How the hell did they get in this country?"

    ??????

    :(

Take this for what its worth... but there's a rumor that Clemens and MLB have worked out this whole agreement because he tested postive for steriods last year. Basically, its the "Jordan retired for gambling" theory (the first retirement).

Also, there's talk that this break is self-imposed because Clemens was a big-time greenie user... and without the extra stimulants, he'll probably wear down over a long season (thus, he's shortened it).

This all sounds like far-fetched stuff, but its better than the other stuff that gets posted ad-nauseum in here (Astros need another bat, Astros don't spend enough money, Astros are the greatest team ever, Astros are the most worthless team ever, Garner sucks ;) ).

it depends, are all people from the South closeminded, stereotyping, intolerant racists?

p.s.- Houston tops NYC as one of the most polluted cities in America...

****ing Drayton McClane and his tight pockets. He doesn't spend enough money on greenies.
