I really wish there were a cure for the rabid fanboy'ism on this board. The problems are there, and have been there a long long time. How many lotto seasons must we endure, before some of you guys stop defending the obvious.

    1. YM gets worked like a dog by the Chinese govt, and will continue to struggle with fatigue his entire career.

    2. SF will always look to shoot before he passes, and he's not going to change, unless he's forced to, and then he'll pout until he gets traded.

    3. The Rockets make bad bad trades (see GR), and most definitely need a new GM.

    4. The Rockets will continue to have salary cap problems, until the contracts of MT and MN expire.

    5. The new uniforms are not that great and only look good, because the last uniforms looked so ugly.

    6. EG is a bust. Get over it.

The Rockets are much much worse than you guys want to accept, and it could be 3 or 4 more years before can can seriosly threaten to go deep in the playoffs.

    Prediction

    1. YM peters out in the 2nd half - again.
    2. SF hogs the ball, because of number 1.
    3. EG is traded on the cheap.
    4. Nothing is done with the mid level from Utah.
    5. The Rockets limp into the 8th spot, and get crushed by either the Mavs or LA.

    Sad but true.

They probably had a dart board filled with things like "out for the season," "troubled coach," and "ehausted player;" and then threw a dart out for each player.

Next thing we'll know Moochie will be rumored to be "Out for the troubled exhausted coach."

I just wanna say, if I were ever dumb enough to actually PAY for any of the 'premium' services offered by ESPN, I would be on the horn with them right now demanding a full refund.

    What a load of crap.

On top of it all, has anyone else noticed that they have begun to slide more and more of their historically free content into their pay areas?

ESPN totally, completely, and egregiously sucks gigantic moose nads.

    thank you

I think many people are missing the boat here. It's easy to get angry when the editorial is about our beloved Rockets. But look at it with an even head. This is just an editorial. It makes for more entertaining reading to spark controversies than to just spit out random tidbits of factual information. What he says is only his opinion. And contrary to what we may believe in Houston, many people outside of Houston seem to feel the same way Chad does, notwithstanding that his quotes may have been taken out of context. He's not stating any of this as fact, and I doubt anyone would take what he says as fact.

Notice how no one here is dissecting the rest of his article, especially the part about the Mavs trade. I'm sure the Mavs fan are attacking that part of the article. We're getting a bit over-emotional here. It's only an editorial. That's it.

When you say that Maurice Taylor is out for the season, that's not an opinion. That's a fact. And its a complete fabrication.

So when you have a writer (not some silly joker fan like us who posts on a bbs, but somebody who gets paid for it) who bases his opinion on factual observations that are either incorrect or don't exist, you discount it accordingly.

a couple of positives out of this article:

    1. i was considering subscribing to ESPN insider at one point. but after reading this, i realize that its a bunch of crap not worth any money. and all this 'insider' info is already out there in the 'free' press

    2. apparently, according to ford, houston really needs eddie griffin in order to be successful. i guess he thinks that griffin is a valuable commodity to this team. maybe this means that outside of houston, there may be some other people out there that think eddie has some value. so if the rockets trade him, they may actually get something in return

Yao worn ragged by the chinese national team?

For the love of god, he only played like 6 games over there, only 20 minutes a game no less.

He also spent a lot of time working out with the team, but it can't be much more than most nba players work out in the summertime.

He prolly just read the little tidbit about Yao being tired after the 20 hour flight, and ran with it.

    what a schmuck.

EG is very young, very tall, can jump out of the gym. Of course they can get a lot for him -- assuming he's not in drug rehab or a hostage situation (with EG holdiing the gun -- from too far outside?).

You're absolutely right that the Mo Taylor quote is wrong. I should have addressed that. But his piece is not based on that one piece of misinformation. A person can easily come the same conclusions based on correct facts and quotes not taken out of context.

Exactly. :) Did somebody say Chad Ford is the guy from Hoopsworld? If that's true, then this is no surprise.

You folks on this board need to grow up and stop letting what some columnist wrote get your panties all in a bunch. These opinions mean nothing. This is the NBA. No other team gives a damn about the Rockets and whatever problems they are facing right now.

Oh course there will be articles written like this until the Rockets go out and actually do something concrete on the court. You want respect for this team? To date, they haven't done anything to justify getting respect from the league. Let them get their butts out on the court and start kicking some NBA ass and they'll get all the respect they are due.

And what was the reason why SF hogged the ball before Yao Ming got there? Its a mindset, not Yao Ming.

Other than that, you are probably correct on most other predictions, though I am a little more optimistic about the upcoming season.

OMG! This is the worst piece of journalism I have ever seen! I have seen all the quotes from other media. No original content. All quotes taken out of context.

JVG is getting ready to quit? Give me a break! Rockets have improved so much after a few preseason game. Yao is dominating Divac and Brad Miller. Steve passing more and wasting less time on the clock. Cato is busting his ass, has averaged more than 10 boards a game, and is becoming the type of PF that Rockets have been looking for all season. Boki is turning from bench warmer to potential. Moochie is burning from deadweight to solid role player. Rockets are without Mobely, Pike, Taylor, A Griffin, but still managed to beat Kings twice handsomely, limit them to under 80 points every time. How often you see Kings score under 80 points a game? In all other 4 Kings preseason games, they scored 101, 111, 94, and 107 respectively. I anticipate Rockets to be the top defensive team this year.

If I was JVG, I would be thrilled this season! Rockets young talents, lack of discipline, team concept, and defense are perfect battleground for JVG! He never has worked with so much raw talents and underachievers before. This season Rockets can be a sleeper, like they did back in 1994-1995.

Ford has had beef w/ Francis for some time so this isn't too surprising but w/ that said, this is one of the worst sports articles I have ever read (for the same reasons everyone else is saying). Complelty biased so I can't pay it much mind.

Yeah we've got some problems but its not really all THAT bad. Cato is really playing well and is banging and boarding w/ every other big man in the NBA right now. Francis is playing a lot better and Yao is absolutely killing people. Mo WILL play and will contribute. Mobes has been hurt along w/ Pike & AGriff. The D is getting there and with that in place, we should be able to win ugly until the offensive system is completly up & running.
