One thing I have discovered in Yao's game that certain stats cannot capture is that when he getting more shots (which goes with him having a good game as well) his confidence goes up. His defense improves as a result of it and he gets to the line more. So if we are able to piece all of this together (I am too lazy to produce "back-up" stats) you will see that 2.6 more shots per game becomes even enlarged. Usually when Yao misses two or three shots in a row, our guards kinda relegate him to the 3rd option of a sudden. This often affects Yao's confidence, shot attempt and entire game. He becomes softer and more tentative. Meanwhile, our guards use that as a freeway to go solo and do it there way. This situation is hardly good for our team because our team's success is centered squarely and prominently on Yao's success offensively and then subsequently defensively. My dream one day is to see Yao as our true # 1 option come-what-may - whether he is shooting 0 for 7 or 7 for 10. Yao does not have to be perfect for the guards or his entire team mates to justify feeding and over feeding him with the ball and saddling him with the ultimate responsibility of "MANNING" our beloved team. To me, this team was unwatchable a couple of years back and then some - Yao's presence has and will continue to change this team for the best. He needs all the support and confidence he can get because truely we can only get as far as he can take us. Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, KG, T-Mac or Bron0Bron AIN'T coming to Houston Rockets anytime soon.
