LOL, you guys want to assume more bad contracts for washed up vets? Not signing Barry to an embarrassing contract was a lucky thing given this crew.

Hedo had a down year for them last year. That's why they let him go. Barry is doing no worse than Hedo was at times last year...I think they're in the same boat really.

To dconover...would "only improve our team" or whatever you said is true this year. But the contract just isn't worth it. God can you imagine how nasty this team would look with Ward, Barry, Taylor, and Howard all with nasty deals? At least Spoon is off before Barry.

    I tell you what.

I wouldn't mind mind trying to gey Jon Barry.

I remember when we signed Piatkowski it pissed me off because Jon was available, and I thought it wouls have been a much better sign.

He shoots 3's just as good as EP(or at least did when we signed EP). He's taller, quicker, stronger, a better defender, and he even has a quicker release on his 3 pointer than EP does.

I'm not saying he was good at all those things I listed. Just slightly better than EP at them.

I've heard some about lockeroom concerns somewhere though I think.

He could be a backup 2/3.

I'd pass on his contract and age considering it clearly looks like he's past his prime.

Barry is not washed up, he's in the doghouse. Pops hates his D, so he gets no minutes. He hasn't come back from surgery with his shot, but it will come.

If we could trade them Spoon, super. They probably won't, because they want him for the finals, when you can spot substitute shooters in after timeouts. But, hey, if he's available, sure, throw our trash at him.

Fire Gundy too, of course. There's no point getting a spazz like Barry to go with Grumps. Barry would be a great friend for Tmac, able to split minutes with a Sura or whoever else.

It would be a good long term-move, picking up a vet shooter. We'd use his skills next year and the year after. Hopefully, we'd do something about the crappy forwards during that time, too. It wouldn't hurt to fire Grumps and free Boki. Shoot, we have to trade him at the deadline anyway, why not get him some value? Maybe then we could exchange JJ and Boki for another sf prospect - perhaps make some sort of deal with the TE to go after Radman and Daniels + Sonic trash like Potepenko or J.James. Shoot, J.James or Vitaly look pretty good right now. They might start at the 4. Funny - then we'd have last year's Sonics + Yao and Tmac instead of Lewis and Allen ;)

Sure, an oft-injured vet who just had surgery? Of course it will come back, and Mo's jumper and hook will come back, Juwan will start scoring 17 a game again, and push double double land. Ward & Lue will start hitting from downtown, and we will be rolling in 2008 until Barry's contract runs out.

Hey, and he can't defend either? Great. Sign him up

Kaleidosky, Hedo shot 42% from the 3pt. line for the Spurs last season, top 10 in the league. That's not a down year and he is a hell of lot better defender than Barry. Hedo just wanted to much money.

I also feel that the Spurs won't trade him unless they get a solid offer to help them over the top. Barry did start off well. He could be of us to
    them in the playoffs.

He shot well, yes. But, the bottom line is the guy can't guard a mailbox let alone a Western Conference forward. Pop coaches defense, Turkeyglue isn't a good defender hence the reason they showed him the door when the Magic offered him that horrendous contract he got.

A week or so ago Chad Ford said that the Spurs were resting Barry for the playoffs, now they want to trade him??? That makes zero sense! Unless I read someone elses article, but I'm pretty sure it was Ford's.

Clutch time to get excited again right?? ;)

who would have thought Barry wouldn't fit in with Pop, wonder why, maybe it has something to do with Brent's stellar defense

I actually still like Malik Rose too. He was given a big contract after a good year but isnt doing too much now.

Would love to see a Barry/Rose package for Mo/JJ/Spoon?
