Nah that's not what I said. Mine was very similar to yours but I started a thread, and was crucified. Unfortunately that incident will prevent me from similar posts, because on the other side of the "card" I am considered an extremist. I do understand what you mean Nomar, I just can't apply it.
The Phillies are supposed to be interested in Wagner. I think his value will still be high as it seems like he is developing his slider (finally) and pitched the best baseball of his life last season. The Phillies would have made the playoffs over the Marlins last year if they didn't have the worst set of closers since the St. Louis Browns. Dotel has closer-level stuff, so trading Wagner seems like a no-brainer considering our deficit of starting pitching.
Carlos Hernandez, according to a radio interview I heard with Gerry Hunsicker, is getting better and may be back in full capacity this coming season. Isure hope so and really hope he can stay healthy. As for Wagner being popular, sure, but I find his rantings about not ponying up big $ to make a Houston Yankees team somewhat insulting, considering how much he makes and Drayton coughed that up already, just to hear some b****ing? Also, defending my "redneck" classification of Wagner, I came to hat conclusion several years ago when I saw an interview of him after he blew a game, mouth full of tobacco, explaining "whathe would do better or differently" for the next game. "I'll just piych better." The interviewer asked about mechanics and pitches (this was pre decent slider) and Billy just kept repeating that tomorrow he'll just pitch better, basically ignoring the questions. His demeanor reminded me of trips up the Eastex freeway I used to take with my band and the people you talk to in gas stations up near Texarkana. Rednecks. Anyway, I have always been a fan of Wagner's pitching, but I think we've gotten his best years already and once his arm weakens, he's done. No more "pitching better" tomorrow.
So he didn't answer an interviewer to your satisfaction... At least he talks to the media unlike many other players. Also, you just made a racial insult based on the way somebody speaks. Imgaine if that was turned around to a different race.
Why wouldn't you want Sean Green or Sammy Sosa on your team? Anybody who understands baseball would be thrilled to have either one.
Not Green. He has a chronicaly bad shoulder (sound familiar?), is coming off a poor year, and makes over $15M. Nobody in MLB wants him right now, including his current employer, who would give him away if they could. But I understand your point.
