I posted this a while ago, and I know people would complain about ZBO bla bla bla but at worst it's an expiring contract and we come out with some spare change next season and start giving Pat some minutes. If we resign Chandler I think we have a very promising team the following season.

Nene isn't too old he still has plenty of years ahead of him where the Rockets could become competitive.

Nene is a upgrade to any big we got now--but i just dont feel good about giving too much for him with no guarantee he will stay--i wouldnt be opposed to hill-jefferies-2nd round pick--but no more than that--id much rather package something for cousins--

Trade will make sense. Nene is big and athletic. Nothing more. And thats what Rocket needs. Don't expect he can do more also this is definitely not an impact trade.

That's kind of the conclusion that I came to. I think it's very unlikely the Rockets get a center of that caliber through the draft or anywhere else.

His contract extension is worrisome, but I feel like it's probably pretty likely that he'd re-sign. Unless the Knicks or Lakers come out of nowhere expressing interest in him, where else would he go that's significantly more attractive than Houston?

The other consideration is he doesn't seem to possess the dominant rebounding or game-altering defensive presence the Rockets currently need...but I'm just not sure you pass on an arguably top 5 center because he doesn't fill an immediate hole.

I'm leaning towards making the deal.

That's why our defense will improve. With him being big and athletic enough to bang with all the C's in the league moving CHUCKWAGON to his natural position is whats going to drastically improve our D.

ZBo is, right now, one of the 3 or 4 best post players in the league. Memphis is playing really well. They may not be able to afford him in the offseason and risk losing him for nothing, but I really doubt they trade him. I think they're gonna ride it out with him and try to get keep him in the fold this offseason.

Even if we get Nene, knowing our luck compounded by his injury history, he'll probably go down with a career ending injury.

but their players are still developing Scola gives them a long term affordable solution, I think it's an opportunity that they might look at if they think they can compete for the next 4 years as Gasol and Gay get even better.

Getting nene would drastically improve this team...u guys do understand that our starting center is a 6'6 PF right..guys saying nene won't improve the team on offence and defence doesn't really know much about basketball..nene is great on defensive and even better on offense..giving up hill and jeffries is a really good deal...chuck goes to the bench and plays situationaly..on someone like griffin and stodimier...ect...hope we get nene.

why not plan for the next season, If there are no options this trade deadline, go for it all

how long are we going to be the mid level team, with decent stats but basically no accomplishments for the past 15 years...we had two stars but no luck considering how many injuries Yao and TMac had...

we are better off starting from the ground up than rebuilding with Nene or someone similar to his game

So the Rockets should definitely go after him but you don't think any other teams will express interest? Why would teams have to "come out of nowhere" to show interest in an athletic, "top 5" big man?

Seriously? Who knows what's in his head but we're not one of the marquee destinations that players would love to play for. Not saying it's right, but how often do you hear players dreaming of playing for Houston? How often do you hear players say they'd like to play in Mia, NY, LA, or even Bos?

With the exception of Courtney Lee (which probably won't happen anyways, considering the Nuggets already have Afflalo and JR Smith), I say the Rockets should give up whatever it takes to bring Nene in.

This team desperately needs size, and now they have the chance to bring in a solid all-around Center. They need to pull the trigger as soon as possible.

this is a great trade...for the Rockets.

The Grizzlies may trade Z-Bo, but won't trade him, Mayo and Thabeet for Scola, an expiring (which they Z-Bo already is) and a complete flier in Randolph.

Maybe I should've been more clear, but what other more attractive teams have the means to get Nene? Boston and Miami can't fit him on their roster, and New York won't after acquiring Melo. LA most likely can't fit him either, and as far as I've heard have expressed no interest in him.

Terrance Williams will fill that void at SF. Morey is very high on Williams abd believes he can be a superstar. With a full year, offseason training, training camp, summer leaguee and the preason. TWILL is gonna get his chance, especialy if RA retires

Nene= second leve! If Yao does not come back we will regret Nene, he is not a leader, he plays limited and scores only easy shots at a high percentage. :p

Of those teams, only NY has the salary space to sign Nene to a big deal. And they're saving that money for if not Melo, then Deron Williams or CP3. The other teams simply lack money. The Rockets, OTOH, will have bird rights and can give Nene the biggest raise and at least match the starting salary of any other offer.

Quite simply, if the Rockets want to retain Nene, WE WILL RETAIN HIM. This isn't even remotely comparable to Lebron/Bosh/Melo situations for Cleveland/Toronto/Denver.

    Those were just examples.

Point being: there are, in fact, more attractive destinations than Houston. Of course it all depends on each particular player's tastes, but I don't think many have the Rox at or even near the top of their lists.

Other teams with means will 100% be in the market for a player like Nene and just being Houston, TX probably won't be enough to convince him to stay. He might fall in love with the organization after playing here almost half a season, but I wouldn't count on it.
