You just worsen the C position, worsen the SF/SG logjam, and pay more money.......not seeing where you're coming from here.... That strikes me as a fairly optimistic view of a career 13-5 guy who enjoyed slightly inflated stats on a bad team (Memphis). He's a very nice outside shooter, but it's not like those are tough to come by. JJ Redick, Dorell Wright, Wesley Matthews, Aaron Affalo, and plenty of others bring the same things to the table for less money. Those are next to impossible to come by in the NBA. There's no chance he could have gotten one.
Maybe if Riley calls up Memphis and pretends to be Mitch Kupchak, he can get Marc Gasol for Miller and two second round picks.
Trade miller for miller and add AB to the mix for Dampier Than we can trade budinger and hill +battier to atlanta for smith C-Dampier/Chuck F-Scola/Patterson/Jeffries F-Smith/Miller G-Martin/Lee G-Lowry/Williams/Smith

One of my favorite players of the last decade, and one of the purest shooters in today's game. Still, errbody knows that was a bad signing from the get. I mean, just because I like Jamal Tinsley doesn't mean I would sign him, ya dig?
Kinda surprising to see him being shopped. Obviously I see the value. The Heat have almost nothing at center and point guard. What's surprising is that Miller was probably the most widely applauded signing the Heat made this past offseason. There were plenty of people ready to criticize the team for putting chemistry at risk by bringing in Bosh and James to go with Wade, but just about everyone thought signing Miller was a good idea since supposedly he'd always be open and could just stand there and shoot.
Videogame sidenote: This'll hurt alot of the 2K11 fanboys who murder teams with Miller on the outside after Lebron/Wade drives. Overall though I'm not too surprised.....Miller's contract is inflated for what he brings to the table....Miami needs that PG/C and they shoulda spent more time on that in the offseason, instead of gettin stuck into Miller's contract that no one will touch. Only problem is, what the hell does a PG do in Miami? They have Lebron runnnin point forward pretty much, seems like a true PG would be useless to them because it would result in less time for the ball to be in the hands of Wade/James/Bosh. I'm assuming they're looking for a solid defensive PG, who fits into the scheme, can guard the likes of a Rose, D.Will, CP3, and can hit an ocassionally 3 when needed.
Honestly, it would boil down to: 1 play lock-down perimeter D 2 rebound better than average 3 participate competently in the break 4 fast, accurate swing passes 5 see #4 6 don't take dumb shots 7 make a few wide-open looks That is surprisingly hard to find. I could do 4-7, but not 1-3.
Wesley Mathews - 5 yr 34 million JJ Reddick - 3yrs 20.2 million Dorell Wright - 3yrs 11.5 million Aaron Affalo - currently on the 4th year of his rookie contract Contrary to your statement, some of the players you listed actually cost more than Mike Miller per year and not suprisingly the two that cost less are either currently still on a rookie scale OR had career stats of under 7 points per game 2 assist and 4 rebounds, prior to signing their new contract this season. Its debatable if Mike Miller is as valuable or more so than Mathews and Reddick, IMO hes a much much better player than JJ Reddick as not only does he have a nice outside shot as you say, hes one of the few shooters who can also adequately defend, rebound and be a playmaker. Mathews is probably of similar value to Miller, due to his age, potential, ability defend and shoot. Aaron afflalo is in the 4year of his rookie contract and like Aaron Brooks will be a restricted free agent at the end of the year. With his versatility, defense and age, I'm sure hes in line to make 6million per if not more, (barring a lockout). Regardless of whether you believe Mike Miller is only a stat inflated player with a nice shot or inferior to the players you listed, the consensus is he signed for LESS money to play with the HEAT and I'm guessing is viewed around the league as an asset. The question is, unless you think he has negative value or zero value, its confusing how my statement that a team would give something of value for Mike Miller, a player who barely makes more than the league avg, is a "fairly optimistic" view.
Miller is a pretty solid all around player, and not a one trick pony. A lot of teams would be happy to have a player like him for his salary
Miami has been trying to pry Brendan Haywood, offering Mike Miller as part of package, but Mavs have consistently resisted, source says
