Actually she was reasonable. The unreasonable one is Max Kellerman, who cherry picks stats and just plain misrepresents. I lost a lot of respect for him. Mentioning per game averages but doesn't mention PER. He also mentioned win probablity added, but didn't disclose that the stat is misleading because the Rockets are slapping these b****es left and right and there isn't any need for harden to go wild most nights. Pretty frustrating and disappointing to hear these lazy takes.
Even when there are no logical reasons not to give Harden MVP, they can’t stomach the idea of giving it to him. So here comes the split MVP, the Not unanimous worthy, the haven’t performed in the post season excuses. It’s a bit ridiculous really and is in reality closet hating.
I think the real goal they want to achive at this point is to secure that Harden doesn't get the unanimous MVP. Even though, they shouldn't waste so much time and effort for that, everyone knows some idiot will not vote for him anyway.
Totally disagree. It isn't enough that she has to bring up splitting the MVP award specifically when Harden is the favorite to win it. She starts it with: "The MVP race is more of a race than we thought." Uhhhhhhh... NO. Then she says, "You (Truth) said Lebron can win the MVP every year, but we're NOT giving him anything every year." Uh, because he DOESN'T DESERVE IT? If you want to give Lebron "MVP of the Eastern Conference", I'll agree w/ that. But then you gotta split every previous MVP award to retroactively reward the conference players. If you need to give someone "best of the decade award", no problem. Make the award and give it to him. Hell, name it after Michael Jordan, Kareem, for all I care. But you ain't splitting the MVP award.
one of the worst arguments for mvp is when people now say "if you take _______ off of [insert team here] they would be a lottery team" therefore they should be mvp. that's a credible argument when you have a team that has a top 3 record in the league but when your team is above average at best. you can't use that argument. a superstar leading a team to high 40 wins is what a superstar is supposed to do no matter who is around them. take giannis off the bucks and they're a lottery team so give the mvp to giannis? and then these internet idiots say **** like "harden couldn't do what lebron is doing with the cavs, like harden hasn't carried subpar rockets team to 50+ wins before. harden could easily carry that squad to high 40 wins in the LEASTERN conference.
Imagine if the Rockets had the health that the '15-'16 Warriors had. They could have won over 70 games as well. Klay, Stephen, and Draymond missed a combined five regular season games.
Remember when we played Cleveland and Gerald Green and Clint Capela blocked three or four of Lebron's shots early and he just absolutely quit? Never came in the lane again, stood around the perimeter and acted disinterested. Did I not see that correctly? If Lebron James is the MVP, then Gerald Green is the real MVP.
This is true. Glad you brought this up. It just has MORE traction now because last year there was a "race" (and thus didn't need to be explored) and this year there really isn't and to have a discussion they need a "counterpoint." So thus this with LeBron.
its horrible how they make the jordan comparison.. They forget Jordan's team was the elite team with a 69-13 record, they forget Jordan was league leader is scoring and ten times better defensive player then Lebron.. Jordan was the best player not only because of scoring, but he took his team to unGodly records, and dominated the post season, In the 90's his team was virtually a lock to win it all every year, that's why when malone won the MVP, people were like wtf.. the difference is Lebron when he wants to be is the best player.. Jordan was simply the best player even when he was having his worst nights.. You can not say that about Lebron.. If a player does not play at an MVP calibre and another player is out playing him, and his team is not getting the results then he doesn't get the MVP, simple as that..
Russell Westbrook says Hello! I used to think that being the best player on one of the best teams was a criteria was necessary for being regular season MVP until the media was able to sell Westbrook's numbers game. Even though his team was top 4 or 5 in the league.. I still think ESPN is ready to implode in the near future.. come on Lavar Ball take Stephen A. Smith out!
So I was thinking, if a voter choses LeBron or Anthony Davis, then what exactly would James Harden need to do to get your vote? James Harden has the most wins, most points scored, and some of the best advanced stats. Are you really going to vote for LeBron because he's averaging less than 1 assist more than Harden? Are you going to vote for LeBron or AD because Harden has D'antoni? Having a great offensive coach didn't stop Steve Nash AND Steph Curry from winning 2 MVPs each. Are you going to argue that Harden has better teammates? Well CP3 has missed 20 games and the Rockets had ZERO all-stars this year (besides Harden)...Cavs had LeBron and KLove, Pelicans had AD and Boogie. Since Boogie went down, the Pelicans, led by Anthony Davis, only have 6 wins vs. playoff teams, and two of those were in OT. The only argument against Harden is that he's not good on defense, but LeBron has been bad this year, and he didn't even try in January. If a voter picks AD because he is a better defender than Harden, then that voter is voting for the wrong award. That's why there is a separate award for Defensive Player of the Year.
Finally watched it... It wasn't that bad. Yeah, she brought it up last year. Yeah, Pierce was annoying with "how can you not give the triple double the mvp," but they conceded that harden had a better year last year and cp3 is taking away his numbers this year. All agreed that harden was legit to win it. If I had a TV the bathroom, this is the filler I'd watch while taking a dump.
