Tony Parker didn't look the part his 1st few years either. And now they have Marcus Williams as another fall back option while he learns. Potential disaster, yes, but also potential brilliance and potential much better long term team future than had they made a max deal to a superb but also 29 year old injury prone PG.

I have a feeling Golden State will have a chip on their shoulder and prove that despite losing the force Davis was they were a lot more than that (I don't think Davis was to them what Steve Nash is to Phx in terms of orchestration). Ellis, Jackson and Maggette have a lot to prove now, and a lot of talent to do it with.

Oh, my comment regrading him not being a point guard wasn't meant to be associated with my commentary regarding the contract. It was a good steal for them at that price and he has a bright future. I just think he needs to be kept at the shooting guard.

I disagree completely. I think Baron Davis meant everything to that team and they will completely suck next year. He was the sole semblance of normalcy that made that machine work. A 6ft tall shooting guard, a major offensive threat who is more of a threat to public security and prone to launch 20 3's a night, playing small forwards at center...Baron Davis allowed them to pull all of this off. I think they crumble with him gone.

We will find out which is correct. But GS was crap with Baron until the Indy trade and Ellis emergence. Like I said I think they will play with a chip, and be competitive (about 500 in the tough West).
