Bogut plays center. Ilyasova another 4 left for Europe. Playing time is a weak excuse.

Knicks and Kings were approved destinations and they have truly loaded frontcourts.

    The Chinese?

Has it not been made clear to you to this date the majority of Chinese basketball fans voice their opinions on various sports websites that Yi Jianlian should play for whatever NBA club that drafts him? Since when a few oligarchs that have been in control of Yi's basketball career are equivalent to the whole Chinese population, Mr. Democracy-imsobored?

Wang Zhizhi defected? LMAO. If the act of not fulfilling obligation -- verbal agreement, contractual/monetary, or otherwise -- is considered "defection," should we call VSpan *defected* after his one season with the Houston Rockets as well?

Methinks you are really f*cking bored.

He did nothing for Charlotte (Kobe) or Vancouver (Francis).

I think the best thing he could do is to say no Chinese players will be draft eligible without an unconditional release from their home club.

the way he used "Chinese" it referred to the few people in charge of Yi, not the whole population, and i don't know why you would think it referred to the whole population of China, as they have no influence on the situation and thus aren't relevant to the discussion. me thinks you are really oversensitive.

yay !!! it's time to change the nba draft :) nba teams just can't take players who don't want to play for them. stupid nba monopoly, the world isn't yours :p bucks should have traded the 6th pick. really bad decision making. if he is traded, then they are off the hook.

No, I dare geeimsobored (who is an Indian-American) to use the general term "Indians," rather than the more specific usage such as "a few medical doctors from India with extremist Islamic beliefs," to denote the terrorist suspects arrested in recent London bombing plot.

They should just hold on to his rights and basically ban him from joining the nba period. He's gonna sit in china and if he wants to play in the nba the tigers are gonna realize that he is NOT coming to the nba unless he plays for milwaukee. The bucks can hold his rights forever until he actually reports to training camp. The bucks arent going anywhere anyways, they are a young team and probally have more patience than a win now team. Sabonis took like 10 years to come over. Scola took 5 years, its not a big deal complications happen all the time. The stupid thing for the bucks would be to trade his rights away.

Yi made it perfectly clear *before* the draft what his intentions were. It was no secret. The Bucks knew he didn't want to play for them, and drafted him anyway. They can't complain about the situation they knowingly created.

Was Kobe a hold out? I always thought it was a straight up trade. Charlotte did get Divac who was a pretty good center at the time.

    Nah. That's Fran Vasquez.

Yi wants to play in the NBA - but not with the Bucks.

    your overreacting.

The bucks should let it play out. They need a 'either Yi plays for us or he doesn't' attitude

sooner or later Yi and his minions will fold..

i hate when players do this

IIRC, Kobe said after the draft that he did not want to play for Charlotte and would only play for the Lakers.

My apologies for the misunderstanding. I think this is a semantics argument and I think you're getting upset over my bad wording.

When I say Chinese I'm not indicting the country, the people of the whole country and I apologize if it came off that way. I meant the CBA and the people who run it. That's a small group of people. Bad wording on my part, sorry for that.

As for Wang ZhiZhi, my understanding is that he functionally defected when he joined the NBA and stopped reporting to the national team. Like I said, my bad if I'm wrong on this

the playing time argument just doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me. The guy isnt close to being nba ready to begin with. He needs a couple of years of limiting playing time to adjust, and even then there is no guarantee he will be good enough.

regardless, its a cheap move by anyone that is getting drafted to throw a hissy fit because you dont 'want' to play for X team. It was when francis did it, it was when eli did it, it is as yi is doing it.

I feel sorry for the bucks, they are close to becoming a solid team (in the east at least) and this pick could have helped a lot. To bad its gone to waste now...although i kinda feel it would have gone to waste even if yi did play.
