Sorry, but Artest, Jackson, Pacman and TO are definitely damaged goods. Unsalvageable? No. Damaged? Yes. If it weren't for their excesses, they would be more effective at what they do and would be valued more by teams in their sports. In Pacman's case, he will never recover the millions he will lose. That guy is insanely talented.

Yeah right Zhou Haitao, the boss of guangdong hongyuan, didnt say anything to Beijing News(the first newspaper reported "Hongyuan to block Yi joining BUCKS".
I believe thats where ESPN get the source of such a ridiculous article.
listen,This WHOLE ARTICLE is a lie, completely.
about one hour ago on CCTV4 "Be with the stars" program, Yi, Himself promised that He will come to Milwaukee and meet the management team shortly, yes, thats right, he said in front of the camera. Also, from what subtitle shows that Bucks has a 3year/7mil contract ready for him.

They also interviewed one of the guy(dunnno if hes the spokeman or not) from hongyuan club, he declared whatever media says is not true as they havent given any official statement to anyone. He also said he believes Yi will join NBA and play for the Bucks.

lets hope Yi keeps his promise.

At first, the Yi's team said they hope he will go to large asian population market. Now the owner of the guangdong team said he hope Yi will go to team which he can play more minutes in order to prepare next year olympics blah blah blah.

Let me tell you something, Yi, minutes are to be earned not given. If you cannot outplayed Charlie freaking Villanueva and earn your minutes, please go back to CBA. I m completely fed up of both him and his team's whining!

If you are referring to damaged as far as not being able to get max dollar, then yes. If you are referring to damaged as far as some team not signing them to a million dollar deal (just one that's not at the top of the charts), then no. TO still got paid. If Artest opts out of his contract next year someone will pay him. If the Titans cut Pacman (and he isn't in jail) I guarentee you at least 5-6 teams will be calling him with an offer, maybe more. They will pay (something) as long as you can play....as long as you don't get convicted for killing someone, bet on the sport or torture a bunch of dogs.

The single biggest flop of Team Yi in this whole saga, right from the draft day till now, is that they have been too secretive. Or rather, too introvertive. They haven't been talking to the press as often as they should. They should be engaging the press everyday, even if there's nothing to announce. They don't understand the value of having your voice heard. That doesn't mean you have to disclose anything, but just say something even if it's nothing new. That way, rumors don't start sprouting out of nowhere. That way, the public don't start speculating. Because when you don't say anything, it's always the negative sentiment that grows.

After Yi eventually signs an NBA contract, the first thing he needs to do is to fire the whole team and hire people like those on Yao's team, who actually know that they're doing. But I don't see that happening because I feel that Yi is not as mature as Yao - Yi is not capable of making such decisions.

    Speaking up
China star Yi confirms trade request from NBA's Bucks

BEIJING (AFP) -- Chinese teen star Yi Jianlian has broken his silence following a torrent of criticism about his refusal to move to the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA, saying it was his decision alone not to play there.

The 19-year-old was was chosen by the Bucks as the No. 6 pick in last month's NBA draft but has refused to go there -- reportedly because he would not get enough playing time and that too few Chinese lived in Milwaukee.

The 7-foot power forward's U.S.-based agent, Dan Fegan, has been portrayed in China as one of the main villains in the affair.

But Yi made clear it was his decision, and not Fegan's, in wanting to be traded to another team.

"I've read some of the reports, but I don't think he has made too many decisions for me," Yi told Chinese reporters while training with the national team in Beijing on Thursday, and his comments were carried by the China Daily.

"It's clear that he works for me, so everything he is doing is based on my ideas," Yi said.

Chinese fans and the media, as well as Houston Rockets star Yao Ming, have urged Yi to stand up for himself and make his thoughts known as the stand-off has reached near-embarrassing proportions.

"Yi must walk his own road," Yao said earlier this month. "Chinese players are very modest, but this does not mean that he should not make his own feelings known."

Despite Yi's insistence that he is walking his own road, Chinese sporting authorities in reality have a lot of say over his career -- and they have expressed their desire for him to play with another NBA team.

The Chinese Basketball Association and his Chinese club, the Guangdong Tigers, have to release Yi before he can play with any other team.
