How this thread has deteriorated into yet another T-Mac vs Yao thing is just sad.

We are in the middle of history, folks. Just enjoy it while it lasts.

We Rocket fans can come up with some of the dumbest **** to argue about sometimes. T mac could have said anything, and some of you would twist it to where he was dissing Yao or his teammates. T mac: My knee feels sore. Dummy: There he goes making excuses. T mac: We played a pretty good game out there without the big Guy(Yao). Dummy: That SOB said we were better without Yao!! If your a fan just be happy we are winning and stop finding ignorant stuff to cry about. WE ARE ON A 17 GAME WIN STREAK AND PEOPLE ARE b****ING AND POINTING FINGERS?!?!?!

*shrug* I thought it was taking pressure off his teammates and putting more on him and I feel he delivered in the playoffs. Fans tend to disect the words of their team (not saying I don't, just a general observation). I feel he played well. Game 7 was 29pts/13ast come on that's big time numbers. We just couldn't pull it out.

This sesason though. We got 'em.

On a side note, whoevers signature is "Dallas. Coining the term 'maybe next season' since 1980" is hilarious!

How did you draw that conclusion?

Obviously, we are living in different world!

There is absolutely nothing controversial in what he said, there is no doubt in my mind (or anyon'e mind, for that matter) that Deke is a much better defender in the paint than Yao is. Yao is a good defender, Deke is a great all-timer and STILL blocks shots/rebounds at least twice as well as Yao does. It's the simple truth, there is nothing controversial about it. Yao is far superior offensively, Deke is far superior defensively. This is part of the reason why I wasn't thrilled about the fact Deke got no playing time earlier in the season, I think we could've used his defensive presence in some stretches. So yes, it's no knock on Yao. You're not a better team without Yao, but you can run and score more and play a more up-tempo style without him, which may help you win games in a regular season, but won't work in the playoffs.

If you read his answer in the second to last question, he called Yao the "best player" on the team. Even I am surprised by McGrady saying that, but he said it...

Whoa its amazing how many posters who hardly ever post on any other occassion all of a sudden pop out of nowhere and commences to react to Tmac's comments like its poison or something.

    Overreacting much?

Now, the man have said many stupid things in interviews before, okay? I'll admit it, I sometimes wish he would never do an interview, especially when it has to do with the playoffs. But in this case, all he said was that with Yao out, the team has a different dimension and look without him-nowhere does it imply that they're BETTER (IF ANYONE CAN THINK THEY'LL BE BETTER OFF WITHOUT A DOMINANT 7-5 CENTER IS OFFICIALLY DOWN SYNDROMED)

And does this sound arrogant or egocentric in any way? :
If you think he has anything against Yao, why would he call Yao our BEST PLAYER in every d*** interview? :

Damn, this board sounds more and more like an argument between married couples every day. You don't help me clean! You don't help me cook! You don't help with the yard! I pay the bills! I raise our children! Yao is this! TMac is this!

    Just get a divorce already.

With Dirk they're still 7th in the West. Don't see how much better they are with him.

Well, I always thought during the interview by saying "My teammates helped me" is just as arrogent as using the word "Supporting cast". However when he said "a roster like this", I felt he just thought this is a good team.

I agree. this is my believe: The Rockets are playing well with the new offense under RA and will make the playoff this year. We are not contender this year without Yao in the lineup. I had great hope this year, but it is gone now. The only thing we need to do is enjoying what we have.

    Go Rockets!

I'd rather have Yao. If we want to play a faster pace game, then just take Yao out and play Mutumbo. But I'd much rather have two weapons going into the playoffs.
