Is there no salary cap for the Champions? They just keep signing whoever they want. Charlie P on 790 just said Finley would play the 3 at SA.
We really need to get an upgrade in the backcourt now. Getting Brent does sound nice. But not for Wesley and Sura one or the other plus expiring or picks.
There is, but they, along with Detroit have been masterful in their signings. No albatross contracts around their necks. Rasho at the MLE is the closest candidate they have. The only other semi-bad contract was Rose, and they turned him into a decently-valued center in Nazr. Buford, Pop, and company have been the best managing group in the NBA the past few years. Trades, signings, draft picks, etc. Very few mistakes and plenty of low-risk jackpots (Manu, etc). Evan
Just another player Tmac is going to take to school. We got DA and Swift. Plus a bigger Yao and hungrier Tmac. =Rockets Championship.
remind me again why we want to trade with the Spurs? Say NO to the other Barry. The last thing we need is for barry to suck here and wesley to go crazy in San Antonio. DONT TRADE WITH THE SPURS OR THE MAVS. period!
Why do I not really care? I would much rather he be on the Spurs, a team we already are chasing, than on the Mavs or Suns, two teams directly competing against us. If this Rockets team was going to be good enough to knock the Spurs off next year in a 7 game series, it would have been because Yao went absolutely nuts next season and made Tim Duncan and Nazr Mohammad his b*tch. Micheal Finley isn't going to change that.
This doesn't worry me much. I'm not as obsessed with focusing on the Spurs as many of us seem to be. I'd rather him go there than Phoenix, because he could have made the Suns a borderline contender again. Now the Suns stay in our rearview mirror. Finley only helps the Spurs marginally unless someone gets injured or Bowen declines dramatically next season. More than anything, he is an insurance policy for them. They aren't much better with Finley.
I'm not too worried about it...I still think we can hang with San Antonio in a 7 game series. Finley is definitely a nice addition, but I don't think he gives them a clear advantage that they didn't already have. In other words, he's not going to be the deciding factor for them next season...I actually think he's going to decline pretty rapidly. Nothing to get too worried about IMO.
Come on, people. We all saw how Michael Finley played against us in the playoffs this year. He sucked. The guy isn't the player that he used to be. Sure he adds some depth to the Spurs bench, but he ain't no difference maker any more.
Although i just smashed my monitor i really don't think it's so bad upon reflection.......they're still kinda soft... like jelly. We can still take 'em and i like the logic that it doesn't improve our competition as much as keep SA in front. All i'll say in the end is...we have T-Mac. Finley without the ball is just another 3 pt shooter waiting for the kick out, as long as we defend the three well he'll be a non factor. I think our guard defence is the x-factor for us in all honesty, we can't let them cut right through us, especially the frenchy and argentinian, as long as they are contained we can just let duncan work on Swift and hopefully make him go to the foul line alot. In all, i still love our chances.
Well by San Antonio standards Barry has an albotross contract and now will get very little playing time behind Manu. The 3 spot is filled up with Bowen & Finley and the 1 is filled up by the "Filthy French F*@%er" Parker, Beno and NVE. Why pay Barry 16M over 3 years to play 8-12 minutes behind Manu? Wesley for Barry straight up is a good deal for both.
