I was about to post this. I am so excited. I've been waiting for this incarnation of Rockets basketball since the 90's. No one reaches 100, fine by me.

That does seem really strange. I'd expect him to be ranked #2 to Dwight, instead of Hibbert. Maybe he's been blacklisted, lol.

From the way things are going, this season's Rockets might be the most defensive oriented-high octane offense team ever.

There were a couple of "experts" who changed their votes from Gasol to Dwight after watching the Rockets-Grizzlies preseason game.

That's pretty crazy that Bev is on there despite being a guard who hasn't even started yet in the reg season.

    Just ESPN picks but still.

we got 2 players from last year on the board here, and we still have a **** defense last year.

thing is one of em' only played half a season as a rookie trying to learn defensive sets... the other one cannot play extensive minutes as he gets tired easily... this year is different...
    1. more experience.
    2. Dwight Howard effect.
    3. better conditioning.

    4. less ball watching & more fight over the screen from Harden + Lin
would do more than anything on the defense improvement.

I love it! Everybody should appreciate suffocating, in-your-face defense, and the looks of hopelessness from the opposing team players. IMO, 5-7 minutes of this type of D and the game breaks wide open in our favor. Then our bench comes in and finishes them off.

You're forgetting that Harden will be on the court.

But but but... Harden is committed to defense this year. I still stay with rockets having suffocating inyofes defense with high octane offense :)

GMs still suffering from confirmation bias and wanting badly for Lin to fail so they won't have to admit they screwed up big time, suck at their jobs and/or are consciously or subsciously racist (Remember Kobe after playing against Lin said that all GMs in the entire NBA should be fired for missing out on Lin).

Agree. This is awesome. Assuming no catastrophic injuries, it is all on the coaching if the defense has problems this year.

LeBron winning DPOY puts Hakeem's unprecedented MVP, DPOY, FMVP season (1995) in jeopardy. Hopefully the Rockets will directly effect his FMVP.

    The combination sounds championship-esk.

Agreed, he's earned a rep quickly. Westbrook has something to do with that.

The only thing Hibbert does better then Gasol on defense is blocking shots. Gasols overall man-on-man defense is elite. Howard like. Asik is a lot like Gasol as well. Not a great shotblocker, but he is a elite post defender.

Hibbert is a lot stronger than he was last year, that was the biggest problem in his man to man defense.

He is a giant no doubt about that. He was dwarfing Dwight in the preseason in size.

I'm not sure I believe any non-center should ever get DPOY. You could be the greatest per emitter defender the league has ever known, but you still won't have the impact on defense of an elite rim protector.

    Anyways....we gonna lock fools up.

    Perimeter

A PER emitter is what Lebron James is.

Either that, or it hasn't been formally announced that Jeremy will take on that role....
