Nice prediction. I admit the Eagles are my second favorite team only b/c of Kolb. So yes, that would make me a KOF. I've kept up to date w/ Kolb since he's been drafted and have heard nothing but praise from the people that matter (Eagles coaches, former coaches etc.) The comment I like the best is this one from the Ravens coach John Harbaugh: All I know is I saw Kevin Kolb every day in practice for the year I was the secondary coach when he was the guy going against the defense as the scout team quarterback,’’ Harbaugh said. "When we did red zone, we couldn’t defend him. I mean he’d run the red zone offense for the team we were going to play. We had the No. 1-ranked red-zone defense in the league 2 years ago. And we couldn’t stop Kevin Kolb. Throwing to Mike Gasperson every day in practice. He picked us apart...(The coaches) love him. He’s got all the tools. He’s a leader. He’s tough. He plays the game the right way." I also scouted Kolb a little bit prior to the 2007 draft and was hoping the Texans would draft Peterson with their number 1 pick and Kolb with their 2nd rounder at the time and even posted I would pack my bags and move to Houston if that happened. (I lived in Arlington at the time.) Obviously that never happened but I moved a year later nonetheless. Anyways, prior to the draft several scouts were heavy on Kolb and even went as far as to say that he would be a better pro than Jamarcus Russel (1st overall pick) and Brady Quinn. (I still have several draft magazines from 2007 I kept to see how that draft would pan out.) His accuracy was key as well as his upbringing with him being a coach's son. He has the temperament and natural leadership to be a starting QB and to command a huddle. Also, this guy hunted 150lb wild hogs with just a bowie knife which has to say something about him being fearless especially now that he'll be chased by some in the NFL. I don't know that he has a rifle arm but in the Eagles offense accuracy is more important than heaving 50 yard bombs. It seems evident on old game tape in UH he had the ability to throw a bomb on occassion with some accuracy. In anycase the Eagles have put Kolb in position to be successful and for a long time barring injury. We've seen the likes of Tom Brady,Carson Palmer, Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo sit on the bench for a year or more and become successful in the leauge. I have no doubt Kolb will follow in their foot steps.
Its pretty amazing how quickly Jamarcus Russell has fallen out of favor with the Raiders, Al Davis you'd think would be stubborn and try to stick with the guy after he defended him publicly during the Lane Kiffin fiasco press conference. Word is now that the Raiders are taking a hard look at Clausen and even Tebow, neither of whom I think are going to be great pros. Clausen for mental reasons and Tebow for talent reasons.
He fooled a lot of people, I know everyone was excited when he was tossing 80 yard bombs at his Pro Day like it was nothing, scouts were drooling, Mel Kiper thought he was the next Elway. Clear cut case of immense talent being stifled by a penchant for fried foods and general laziness.

Philadelphia Eagles Give Kevin Kolb $12.26 Million Contract 2 years, 10+ million signing bonus. Basically the two year audition starts now.
Yes, I saw this also. The Eagles must have their doubts about Kolb, or they would have made it a long term contract.
Makes no sense to sign him long term. Anybody would have doubts about a guy who has only played 2 games in his entire career.
Matt Schaub had started only 2 games in his career when he was signed to a six year 42 million dollar contract. He had a little more playing time than Kolb, but not by much.
I think that says more about the kind of brass balls the Texans had (trading two 2nd rounders and inking that contract on basically an unknown commodity) more than it says about Philly doubting Kolb. Schaub's case seems to be kind of the exception, rather than the rule. The only guys who typically get contracts like that without having much proven are 1st round QB draftees. The amount of faith they put in Schaub was astounding! Aaron Rodgers, for example, was signed to a 5 year deal as a rookie (didn't start until year 4), so he went into his starting QB role with 2 years left on his contract, and wasn't given an extension (6 years) until the end of October when he had proven he was worth it. So I'm not shocked that they're being cautious right now. Just like how I won't be shocked if come Thanksgiving he winds up getting an extension.
Actually, the article states pretty clearly that the Eagles are limited by the CBA to giving him a long term non-guaranteed contract. Basically, if you want to renegotiate a salary upwards this year, you have to give the player the new money in bonuses, i.e. guaranteed money. A perfect example is Chris Johnson, who's skipping all the Titans' practices during the offseason because he wants a new contract, which he clearly deserves, however, it would be insanity for the Titans to give him $30+ Million guaranteed; no running back ever gets that. As for the Schaub deal, the Texans designed the contract to pay him ~$20M over the first 3 years, which is pretty equivalent to what the Eagles invested in Kolb.
