Buys them some time and instantly fixes a 15 year problem they've had at the position. They can, at the very least, seriously attempt to make the playoffs now.
Dunno about this one guys. I think it would of been better for their future if they had gone to the Jimmy Cluson route. This move don't make sense on the Skins part. Philly got a high 2nd round pick, which in the nfl is as good as gold.
Is a 33 year old mentoring a young kid you draft at #5 a better solution? Cause that might be the plan.
Philly putting all their chips on a former Cougar. I'm rooting for Kolb. I hope he does well for the Eagles.
You foresee wrong. The Eagles aren't going to bail on Kevin that quickly. If Donovan wasn't in their future plans then there's no way they're going to give Vick meaningful time knowing he's a rental. Time to let Kevin take his lumps, for better or worse. *edit: this is all predicated, of course, on Kolb signing an extension... which I'm guessing he will do probably before I even finish this post.
F- the Eagles fans (those always against McNabb) and the management of that team. That's all for now.....
That 3/4 next year was probably the "extra" price Washington had to give up in order for Philly to move him within the division. Makes sense for both teams. At the least, Washington is now relevant and not the most boring team in tne NFL. It's been a while since either was the case.
Sure the fans can eat a big one, but the management is really not doing anything out of the ordinary here. It's a good deal for them, and it makes sense for both parties. Writing was kind of on the wall...
It's a good deal for both teams really. The only thing I question is why they traded him within their own division
Yeah, I know this is the management's m.o. and that's why I said them last. I am really more upset with dumb Eagles fans who are thinking Kolb is going to be so spectacular going by his two starts last year which were against a Saints team he three picks against and 1 going back for a TD and his stats were so huge because the Saints were up most of the game and the second game was against the Chiefs, enough said. And I have checked some of the message boards and comments on the trade and those same fans are crying because it is within the division. Well, you wanted him gone he is so shut the hell up! I hope Kolb does well but the problem, in my opinion, is and was the play calling/coaching. Even Keith Brooking called the play calling predictable last week and said McNabb was not to blame. Reid really needed to go before McNabb but alas, it is what it is. I'm not a player-only fan by far and I hope the Eagles are very successful next year and beyond but I hope McNabb and the Redskins burn their asses next year, especially in Philadelphia.
You would rather hold onto McNabb, going into the final year of his contract at age 34, than Reid? Seriously? I know of about 15 NFL teams that would gladly take the Walrus no questions asked... careful what you wish for. Successful head coaches aren't easy to come by.
I think the position that needs to be questioned is the RB position moreso than the QB position. Kolb, IMO, can manage alright as the starting QB but McCoy's underwhelming play last season makes me think they should look harder at the RB position.
