ESPN: Dwight Howard Reportedly Attracted to Omer Asik as a Front Court Partner?

I remember JVG playing Cato PF Next to Yao for a full year, and Yao was asked to stay down low. The defense was great and they bravely fight it out against the Lakers in the playoffs.

 

I'm still not sure Howard understands the game of basketball

 

We got Hooked On Phonics for that with Hakeem Olajuwon and Kevin McHale on the cover.

 

Play Dwight at Power Forward and make sure one of them can get a consistent mid range jumper and if that happens then sure.

 

I'm still very apprehensive about obtaining D12! We are all hoping that
we get "Superman", but we may very well end up signing "Dwightmare"!

Everyone is talking about trading Asik and getting "X" player, I think we
should keep both Dwight and Omer at least for one season and not
necessarily for a "Twin Tower" tandem but rather as insurance on our
investment! If we end up with "Dwightmare" we can trade HIM next
offseason and not be stuck with a cancer to the team!

Everyone on our team is relatively young and we can afford to experiment
with Howard and still have a safety net! Who knows maybe the Howard/Asik
tandem will be better than advertised and we will have a "Parade" at the end
of next season.

Yeah I did do that. I wouldn't be opposed to keeping one of Tjones/DMo (actually prefer TJones in this scenario because oid his ability to handle in the open court ala Lamar Odom) but not at a cost oid zeller. Zeller is going to be better than any of our young pfs.

The Rockets traded 2 PFs 4 months ago in order to make time for Jones & D-Mo.

Furthermore, they now have T-Rob who they rate as a good prospect.

They aren't going for this idea.

It is not complimentary to how Harden & Lin play at all. I hope they offer him $9 or $10 million at the most, then he will say no & they can move on to signing another backup center.

Morey has shown that his philosophy is to get rim-protecting centers. Asik is better than Howard at this which leads me to believe the Rockets reported interest in Howard is completely overestimated.

Can you imagine Asik saying he wants to play alongside another center?

That's why Howard is stupid. He is lowering his value when he doesn't have a contract, but he will still expect a max contract.

He must think the Rockets are stupid too.

 

Hmm, if we get Dwight, I would want to trade Asik.

we're an elite defense with Asik & chopped liver w/o. if we basically swap Howard for Asik we have the same problem.

 

Like I said I'm apprehensive about getting Howard and his antics, and his
health scares me as well, but if the team Doctors/Morey give a green light
on Howard then you have to trust their judgment.

I'm not as confident that he can overcome his primadonna behavior though! .
Even if Sigmund Freud came back from the grave and gave his blessing I'm
not sure Dwight can overcome his demons!....

Interesting indeed. It's likely that nothing comes of it, but Chandler loves to socialize with the big names. I remember him eating out with LeBron after a game against the Heat. I bet he hit him up afterwards.
