To add insult to injury, we dropped three spots in the latest power rankings:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/powerranking?season=2006&week=18

    17 (14) Rockets 27-33
Yao just strung together double-doubles in six consecutive games for the first time in his career . . . but T-Mac just tweaked his back for the third time this season.

that damn loss to the sixers is infuriating. we had no business losing that game. i'd have dropped 'em as well.

What took them so long? I would broadcast Pheonix games all the time if I were them. For a non-fan perspective, they totally did the right thing.

i could care less about the power rankings. marc stein doesn't always know what he's talking about, although i do respect some of his columns.

and freaking espn...they did this to the 'stros back when we were like 15-30. i can understand that they have a wide range of sports to cover, but i noticed that cliffhanger on sportscenter too saying "coming up...melo burns rockets for 34"...that is the most ridiculous thing to say when we WON! it's ok, astros eventually got the respect they deserved. we just need to keep on chuggin' and i like being under the radar. just wish i could have more access to games in austin. FSN needs to cover half rockets games here

I've said it before that ESPN hates the Rockets. The other night Yao dropped 27 and 18, they did NBA coast-to-coast and he did not even get a mention. They did their "tonight's allstars thing" and he wasn't mentioned at center, even though he was the best center that night.

ESPN sure dont like HOU at all. And now TMAC is at bottom, so there is no reason to pay attention to this team.

BUt I saw no change on HOU TV schedule? where did you get this DROP thing?

Not surprise, did you guys notice the Rockets were always at the end of sportscenter for the longest time now? ESPN really dislike the Rockets for some reason...maybe b/c they though those two rings should've been Jordan's? Now, everyone on earth loves Jordan.

Sure we're losing, but we have the number one vote getter in Yao for the last 4 yrs, plus T-Mac... I would think people would be interest in them.

    Now, in fairness....

There are EIGHTEEN teams in the league with a better record than the Rockets. 18. If they showed Rockets higlights before those other 18 teams, the fans of those teams would have a legitimate beef.

And remember: before the season started, ESPN scheduled many, many Rockets games to be televised. I'm too lazy to check, but I'm guessing that we were scheduled to have more games on ESPN than all but 3 or 4 teams. If we don't win, we don't get seen. Simple as that.

    I don't get the fusss.

Dumb move on ESPN's part. Most people nationally don't follow the Rockets for the Rockets, they follow for Yao. Yao is the reason why the Rockets are #2 in terms of NBA revenue, and Yao is the reason their road games sell tickets so well, especially in chinese-heavy areas, not to mention the huge audience in China (but not on ESPN, so it's a moot point).

But whatever. I live in the Houston area, so I get my games regardless.

Seems like we have a lot of people in houston that just watch games on pplive etc now instead of going to the games.. heck the portland announcers even said the TC was the quietest place they have been to for a basketball game. freekin Portland announcers... so you know they know what they are talking about when it comes to quiet arenas. :D

EXACTLY! espn does nothing but suck James' you know what. Lebron could be picking his nose and it would still be a highlite. Yao can do a no look behind the back alley oop pass to himself for a slam dunk and rip the rim off the back board and goddam ESPN would rather show Lebron shooting a freethrow. I am not joking!!! And i thought FOX news was biased.
