Totally agree, i dont see why he is the mvp. i thought usually the MVP is supposed to raise the play of those around him etc etc. Numbers wise he had comparable numbers to Yao this year. I would say Yao's impact for the team is greater than Dirk's to his team. Guys like kobe, nash, lebron, heck even gilbert arenas i feel mean more to their team's success than dirk. This is the first time since the lockout season where i feel the MVP was totally undeserving. Is he an All-Nba First team, definitely he is. MVP? I would give the MVP to any of the other first teamers outside of amare before I'd give it to dirk.

the whole "best player on the best team" is a biggest joke of an arguement to give a player a mvp. it should have honestly been nash this year and it should ahve been kobe last year

Nash was robbed. Dirk won by default cause voters didn't want to make nash a 3 time winner. Nash is the best player in the nba and dirk just stole his trophy.

Don't know about that one...he's the best player on one of the best teams in the NBA. I don't think he has ever been the best player in NBA.

He couldn't do the same thing he does on a lesser talented team without the like Amare, Marion, Barbosa, Bell, and Diaw. He surrounded by a really talented team and fast paced offense, but you put him on team that is down right horrible on offense, i'm pretty sure his numbers drop.

If you were to put Kobe, Duncan, and Lebron on really bad team, i'm sure team would almost be in playoffs or even have good seed. The Lakers are not very good team, they only reason they won so many games is because of the artist formely known as Number 8. Cleveland would be instant lottery team without Lebron. And let's be honest the Spurs would not make the playoffs in the western conference without team Duncan, they just wouldn't. They would be hovering around 8 - 10.

The Suns are kind of different story, they wouldn't be nearly as good without Nash, but they are at least #6-#8 seed team without and everyone else. They probably could still beat teams like the Lakers, the Warriors, or Clippers.

Anyone have the clip of Magic Johnson's vicious blast on Shirk during the halftime of Suns/Spurs game 2? Every word of it was true and it belongs in this thread. I still can't believe he was so harsh. Neither Charles nor Kenny would ever bazooka a player like that.

You haven't watched the Suns play without Nash the last 3 seasons? It's ugly and they fall completely apart. The Suns would not beat teams like the Lakers, Warriors and Clippers. Without Nash, they couldn't beat Atlanta at home and they got blown out by the Sonics. He is the heart, soul and brain of that team.

I've watched the Suns play without Nash, they are not as good, but don't be under the impresion that they are weak team. They would eventually find away to win without him.

    Amare -C or Thomas-C
    Marion _PF
    Diaw - SF
    Bell - SG
    ??? - ? (F.A. player

    Bench
    ----------------
    Barbosa
    Jones

Wasn't Amare just selected to be All-NBA first team? Aren't those players supposed to be capable of carry bad teams or average teams into the playoffs. Isn't Marion an four/five time all-star and one of the best defensive players in the league? Isn't Barbosa the best 6th man? Isn't Bell a first team all-defense player? Aren't most of their regular starters capable players...since everybody especially columnist and Suns fans act like they are the greatest thing since slice of bread?

You would think they are still somewhat competitive with all the players they have, if not. Then aren't they tad bit overrated.

You're telling me a team like the Lakers would still be a 7th-seeded team if they had Nash instead of Kobe.

It got it the last 2 years undeservingly. he has enough. He should not ever be mentioned with players who have won 3.

The accolades the Suns players get are fine and nice, but it was when Nash replaced Starbury that they took off into contender status. As individual pieces, Amare, Marion, Bell, Diaw and Barbosa are nice players. But all of them except Barbosa are very dependent on getting their scoring opportunities from Nash. That's just the way it is. The +/- effect he has on that team puzzles me but it cannot be denied.

If you put Nash on the Lakers instead of Kobe, that would be very interesting to watch. I can immediately tell you the offensive productivity of all the other players would improve greatly. Nash's knack of getting the ball to players in scoring position is unmatched. I'm going to guess he would have a calming effect and the Lakers offense wouldn't break down as much. He would probably have averaged 22-24 points per game on that team and his assist total would come down a couple. His box score average would certainly look more impressive than with the Suns. Nash would be more inclined to shoot when open instead of looking for other players. When teams adjust by collapsing on him Nash would rifle the ball to a wide open player. The Lakers would shoot a lot more 2 pointers vs the 3 ball as compared to the current Suns.
How many wins and losses? It's hard to say. Your guess is as good as mine.

Nash is also greatly feeding of the system he is playing in and his teammates! The whole Suns offense is designed for him (that`s also why the team kinda sucks without him). They play the fastest bball in the league, and he gets the ball on every possession. When he passes the ball it usually winds up in the hands of someone who can score. Nash definetly wouldn`t put up the same numbers on any other team, but he also definetly would make any other team considerably better.

Kobe is the best player in the league. Dirk is the best player on the best team (during the regular season), who had a heck of a year, great fg% and made the rest of the team better.

There were really only those 3 players who could have won. Kobe was out because of the position of his team. Between Dirk and Nash it was close, Dirk got it because his team had the better record and because Nash already won it twice. The decision is definetly alright, but the timing is awful!

Can someone explain to me why Nash did not have this uncanny ability to make his teammates better when he was with Dallas and now he just all of sudden has it with the Suns? He didn't make anyone on the Mavericks better and he wouldn't make anyone on the Lakers better cause he didn't have guys who could finish around the hoop and run like Marion and Amare. Their games all comlement each other perfectly. Nash makes Marion and Amare look better and Marion/Amare make Nash look better.

Perhaps you missed the fact that the mavs were a laughing stock pre-nash and then ended up being one of the elite teams while he was there.

i feel bad for that boy Dirk

If the award went to anyone else he would be able to forget this whole season and move on, now people (like us) are gonna be ridiculing him for the whole year.

Any vote if this is any worse than when David Robinson was presented the MVP trophy right before being turned inside out by Hakeem?

Could you imagine the Lakers without Kobe or Cavaliers without Labron.

That would be a nightmare. They would lose to Ohio State.
