You should check the spurs' record without Parker this season. But I don't think the spurs fans think they can win the title without Parker. I don't think you are a successful bussiness man. Otherwise, you should think how to use Tmac's remained value rather than just giving up him. In addition, you also should have more confidence in Adelman. He is a bball master. He will find a way let Tmac fit in his system.
Those percentages are not that far off, one game either way would swing it, while this year's percentages are way off....which constitutes a much bigger issue, IMO. DD
The way this team is setup this year With a Healthy T-mac we would be contending for a Championship. With the injured T-mac we have this year we would probably struggle to get out the 1st round( A better chance without him because he's hurt) Either way with Yao,Ron, or T-mac getting hurt I think it took us out of Championship contention, but without one of them we still have enough talent to get out the 1st round. But Championships are the goal not just getting out the 1st round.
5% differential over an entire season is almost nothing. 15-6 --> over 70% 20-15 --> 57% that's 13% of difference over 56 games, or nearly 70% of the regular season. is it strong enough evidence? i'm not sure. but it's stronger than the 5% diff. of last year. numbers aside, the key word was probably "a year ago" in your post. what happened this years obviously matters more.
ESPN already trying to jump back on after just saying we were going to fade without T-Mac and we were going to be the team to be the one who lets Phoenix jump back in it. Not trying to hear it.
Not true, if Ron were still on the team, Tracy and he would still be struggling as they don't fit together well, the reason they are winning now is that Tmac is out, and Ron can do his thing. Agree about championships but I think we are contenders this year, if Tmac stays out and the team stays healthy. We may not be favorites, but we are right there between Orlando and the Spurs...and behind the Celts, Lakers and Cavs. We are in the mix, and that is all you can ask for year in and year out. DD
you have been mistaken. if tmac was able to score in the high 20's still and was in perfect health this team would be deadly. your completely wrong. and any coach would tell you the same.
believe it or not, not all have the COMMON sense. one example - someone started a thread saying we'd be crazy for NOT wanting a SEMI-healthy (i.e., still injured) mcgrady back.
If Tracy and Ron were healthy I still think we would be championship contenders. I know you think they can't play together but I think based off talent alone we could win a championship with both of them if we were healthy.
that's b/c tracy is INJURED. if you think tracy healthy doesn't help this team, then that's you. the reason we're playing well without him this yeari s b/c we have so many guys being able to step up for tracy (artest, wafer, brooks). that's why we haven't needed yao dominating for us to even have a chance. tracy had a less talented team the past 4 years when yao is out and he still keeps them playing at a high level. it's unfortunate even you don't remember that DD. yes tracy is not helping the team this year and hopefully he won't return b/c he probably won't be 85-90%.
mind you he said OFF THE BENCH and playing role player's minutes. an injured tracy is a role player if he plays
I don't CARE about last year, or the year before, or the year before that......I care about THIS year, nothing else matters. We can get nostalgic later on.... If he is hurting the team THIS year....RIGHT NOW....then he has to go...... That is what I am saying....regarding this team. As for the rest, I do contend that his style of play is not conducive towards winning in the playoffs....but there are valid arguments against it, and it is opinion.... DD
The point I was trying to make, and I admit it wasn't a strong one, is that you can't assess a player's ability to help the team merely on W-L record. That stat can be deceptive, because there are so many other factors that go into it. This year, the obvious one is health. McGrady, when he played, was playing hobbled. In most of those games, Artest either wasn't around or he was playing hobbled as well. To me, McGrady just wasn't himself for most of the season, so I can't really judge his performance without taking that into account. It's a long shot, but hypothetically if he was close to 100% physically than that improves our chances of winning. In past years when he actually was healthy, that's always been the case. I don't think that changes. But it's kind of a moot point, since McGrady will not be 100% any time soon.
Let's be serious here. I hope Tracy doesn't try to return this year because I think he's completely finished as a basketball player. But I completely fail to grasp the apparent profundity of the assertion that the team is better without him this year - uhh, well yeah, he's been hurt. I have no idea how that analysis of the current state of affairs has somehow spiraled downwardly to this absurd critique of his entire stint with the team. This emotionally driven hatred has taken on some serious revisionism to the point that you are now proposing that t-mac is to blame for our past failures and that this "ball stopping" you have trademarked has retroactively always been at the heart of the Rockets' plight. Never mind the fact that the team's record was awful without him in previous years, he's had next to no talent surrounding him, and that one could make the same argument about Yao last season. It's beyond preposterous that this fringe notion that this team would somehow be better this year without a healthy McGrady has somehow crept into the mainstream of opinion, but hell, I guess that's what repetition and a 4 game winning streak can do for you.
Honestly guys, aside from his physical injuries, i think T-Mac has another problem...one that affects him more than the back or the knee. I've done lots of reading and talking to doctors regarding a family member who suffers with being BI-POLAR...and I think Tracy does. He exhibits many of the symptoms in his decision-making off the court, regarding how he will speak with media or fans. Its even apparent in his career decisions, which are very passive-agressive, and other aspects of his life...from the sleeping issues to the several missed games due to 'personal issues'. He seriously strikes me as a person who deals with some emotional issues...and many times you can look at his demeanor and tell he struggles with depression. If you've been around it, you can see it. This can affect everything you do and can sour your outlook on every aspect of your life, leading you to make decisions that are detrimental to any 'retreat'. Just my opinion.
