You know the funny thing is that so many people seem to believe that it's all about field goal percentage. It's not. It's about the total package not just shooting efficiency.

I'll admit i'm not a stats guy but it's tiresome to hear this bickering over a few percents. The most important thing is how you help your team, playmaking. There are plenty of guys who can step in and shoot a high percentage but can't provide for others.

This is getting off track a little, but i remember a while ago ESPN did a top 10 list for the best SG's of all time. I found it odd that anyone voted Mcgrady up there given his playoff history but one person did. It surprised me that John Hollinger, and all his in depth statistical analysis, voted for a career low percentage shooter. I'm not sure he ever even discussed fg% in discussing Mcgrady...odd.

You CAN win with low percentage shooters as stars of your team. Heck, AI got to the finals and he's a low percentage shooter. Mcgrady is a career 43% shooter in the playoffs. Well, Paul Pierce is 42% in the playoffs and Chauncey Billups is 40.7%. Both guys are finals MVP's. Those few percentage points are a few points here and there but the players' impact on the game is much larger than that. If Mcgrady is healthy, he is in the same category as these guys.

the thing is, whatever i'm gonna tell you it wont stop you from repeating your stuff over and over again. that's the annoying part. i can live with you having another opinion than me. that was not my point.

ok, but let's talk about t-mac in general. we're not going to talk about this season because this season there was no t-mac. there was this injured guy wearing #1 on the rockets but that was not t-mac. that's why the rockets are better of without that guy. nobody should disagree with that one so let's leave this behind.

but let's talk about t-mac in general (when healthy and on top of his game). you're saying that t-mac is selfish and doesn't trust his teammates because he wants the ball in his hands almost every time. imho, that statement is beyond ridiculous.

when your best player who's the best on the team in passing and scoring and the most talented and the one who gets doubled has the ball in his hands and creates open shots for his teammates to take, that's not being selfish. that's also not not trusting your teammates. in fact, it's exactly the opposite.

my point is that when you have such a ridiculous combination of half court playmaking and half court scoring in t-mac and you don't use it you're not a good coach and you're not maximizing the talents of your best player. installing an offensive system where t-mac should give the ball up and go around screens to rely on his teammates to give him the ball is wasting t-mac's talents. that is a fact. it's the same with lebron and the cavs. they let him handle the ball all the time because they know they're maximizing his talents by doing so.

the bottom line: if you want t-mac as your superstar you have to build a system around him (like jvg did). but when you don't want to do that with your new coach you should have traded t-mac as soon as you hired the new coach. there is just black or white in this case.

Your friend is a genius DD... I am not racist okay, I am asian and I play ball at the 24 Hour supersport on 1960/jones... when we play there, there is 2 sides.. 1 side is all black people and the other side is all the other race... Although the intensity of the game is higher on the black people side, sad but true no body wants to play on that side (besides the other black people), not because they are black but because they do not play team ball, the guy that takes the ball down the court always take the shot unless he is trapped at half court, other than that, its bring the ball down, dribble, and shoot or drive. Hope no one gets offended.. but im just trying to point this out since it really made sense to me... and you are correct, Utah did this 2 years in a row... let tmac do whatever he wants with the ball for 3 quarters so he can get tired and clamp him down in the 4rth... they got 3 players taking turn guarding him. If T-mac would of let rafer run the offense we would of gotten out of the first round a long long time ago... just IMO

clyde was a finisher, so there's truth to what he said.

but i suspect when he said that, he forgot the failed dunk in the bucks game; or maybe he never saw it since it's a road game...

the problem is tmac is always trying to hit the home run with his passes. you don't see him swinging the ball. you always see him doing the drive and kick or drive and dish because he wants the assist. he is either trying to score by himself or trying to hit a home run on his pass. it's all about ME. padding his stats and forcing the whole team to play around him..... the 22 game win streak was not started by him. he was only apart of it and the wins came from a motivated team that got going with yao's unselfish play. and tmac was there to take over and lets just say the homeruns were going over the fence because role players were hitting their shots.

I agree with that. And I also think you have excellent points about him in the past.

But as you said, he is not that player this year, and that is what I am talking about.

Agreed, but the only player that plays with the ball in his hands 100% of the time in the 4th, like Tmac has...is Iverson....the others played on team oriented squads, if Tmac would play like that......I would have no issue with him at all.....but he continually resists running the offense, and loafing on defense.

just because he make good passes doesn't mean he isn't selfish. an unselfish player will play defense. set picks once in a while for his teammates. get back on defense. make the extra pass. cut to the basket when he doesn't have the ball so the offense isn't stagnant, he would share the credit with his team instead of the "it's all on me", "i impose my will on the game" talk. this is something tmac lover will never understand cause they think it's a one man game.

so does every other "elite" player. i mean as much as i dislike tracy right now, i'm not foolish enough to think that a 100% tmac wouldn't help this team.

the thing is is that he'll never be 100%, so it's a moot point.

You gotta love the media. I found that funny. All of a sudden the Rockets play better without McGrady now. Hahaha. First it was the Rockets play better without Yao ( when he was hurt and out ) and now its the Rockets play better without McGrady ( who is hurt and out ).

Its funny how the media and some of you guys on here can turn on a player so quick. A guy plays great and everyone is in love with him ( Von Wafer  ) but when he isn't doing so well everyone is quick to down the guy. Thats not right at all.

it's funny....everyone was saying that the only one that can create shots for other people and themselves was tmac. the other players were never given a chance to create for others. it has always been tmac dominating the ball and happily collecting his assist and label of facilitator when he wasn't hitting his shots.

    15-6 without Tmac

    20-15 with him.

It is fairly obvious to Rocket's fans everywhere that the team is better withou him, it just takes the media a while to see what all us knowledgeable fans pick up on fairly quickly.

LOL! Wow. So the Rockets are better off without a healthy McGrady too, huh? You guys never cease to amaze me. And what do you know, there's Dakota at the head of the angry mob, almost single handedly re-routing the course of conventional wisdom.

So judging from those records THIS year...

the rockets play better without an INJURED Tmac this year...who's potentially missing a cartilage in his knee

that's a profound conclusion, who would have thought we would play better without an injured player who can't play 100%

    Exactly,

It's like the leader of a religious sect spewing his propaganda...

Ladies and gentlemen, Charles Manson of the BBS lol

Shocking that we disagree, again, eh? You and I clearly don't watch the game the same way.

I mean you think Yao should be traded as the team is doomed to failure now....I do not....you are happy with Ron's play to date, I expected more.....now that Tracy is out, I think we are both going to come together on this one though.

    :)

Oh well, it doesn't matter, we won't be seeing a healthy Tmac probably ever again.

But if we did, he would still be dominating the ball, and making all the decisions and the team would still be failing in the playoffs because of that, but I am sure you would not see it the same way.

We are just destined to cheer for the Rockets and seeing the games completely differently.
