I love how Kobe's elbow is "physical play" yet last time I checked I saw quite a few people on a certain Lakers website whining and moaning about how Shane should get T'd up for face guarding Kobe.

Tell ya what. Let's imagine that Artest had wound up (and Kobe did wind up on the elbow, watch the .gif in the Artest ejected thread) and elbowed Kobe in the throat as hard as he can. Would you shrug it off as 'physical play"? Doubtful. Don't justify illegal behavior just because it's by your team. If I saw Yao go out and try to hurt someone (even Pau) I'd want him to at least get T'd up, because that sort of behavior is unprofessional and doesn't belong in sports. However, despite getting treated like a tackling dummy, Yao has too much respect for the game and doesn't worry about "protecting his rep" or whatever the hell Kobe thought he was doing.

J.A. Adande is a shameless Lakers homer who is only shilling the "Kobe should be suspended!!" argument because he is aware that it won't actually happen.

He's just doing what all the other low-tier sportswriting rabble on ESPN.com are instructed to do: stir the pot to try to add more interest to the series and drive up web traffic.

Haha I loved how Jack Nicholson stood up and got pissed at the ref when the Rockets were up in the 2nd quarter. Would've been fun to see him ejected :D

The bottom line: no matter what Kobe does, unless he shoots a bullet through someone's head, he will still be able to play in the next game. Even if he does shoot someone in the head, the NBA won't do anything. Just that the Boston PD will snatch him up...

Ron Artest was only tossed becasue HE IS RON ARTEST...that did not warrant an ejection whatsoever...Guess who was in the middle of it??? OUR SWEET LITTLE BOY JOEY CRAWFORD......

So Kobe throws a elbow on purpose to Ron's head..and Ron Artest gets called for the foul???!!! Next time Ron should do the same and try and see if he gets the same call called...

The officiating in this game is absurd. Man Joey Crawford = Automatic Loss for Rockets...

Kobe gets superstar treatment while Ron Artest...well......gets the Ron Artest treatment...

Shane should have gone up to Kobe after Kobe after Kobe opened his trap to boast how awesome he is..."omg u can't guard me I'm superstar"...who cares even Rafer Alston rains in 8 3 pointers in your face he doesn't go up to Derek Fisher hey u can't guard me...

lets face it this is the NBA...

Kobe is not going to get suspended

even though the NBA official rulebook clearly says any elbow above the shoulders equals a suspension...

Derek Fisher can get his a$$ outta Houston.....................

So when will Kobe ever get suspended I wonder...he elbows people's heads and necks...taunts his defenders......and goes: "its just part of basketball'

well suspensions are also part of basketball if u haven't noticed...

just that david stern won't notice when it comes to kobe

ahh dude the whistle blew before kobe stone cold stunnered battier, hence the reason why battier is looking up at the ref before it 'falls onto' kobe's knee.
Kobe was frustrated and according to the NBA rule book, when Kobe is frustrated, his allowed to do what he pleases. That way he doesn't go play Euroball for 50 million a year but instead, stay in the NBA and make millions for the Stern dictatorship.

I don't think that he should be suspended for game 2, but should've gotten a technical. The fact that Joey Crawford was somehow able to interpret it in such a way that made the victim the culprit was what pissed me off the most.

I agree. I understand your fandom, and we will see how it plays out.

Who has a video or gif of this? I'd like to see exactly what the NBA officials will be looking at to determine if a suspension is warranted.

By Adande's article, it will be interesting to see the NBA's take if they excuse it.

You can't read this literally. Otherwise, Deke would have been suspended every other game.

Fisher will be out. That was a dirty dirty play and has no business in basketball. I was was running the league I would suspend him for the series. He send a Message and here is the return message we do not want that in the league. As for Kobe... I am thinking a fine and maybe they will watch him more.

We just need to finish them off in Houston. I do not hate all of the lakers, I do not have an issue with PAU or Bynum but Fisher, Walton, Bryant and Sasha (I hate that dude.) need to be controled.

    Bleed RED.... Rockets Red.
