The Suns are just delaying the inevitable. Which isnt really a bad thing. If I were them I probably would resign JJ too. Even at that amount. Them losing JJ (and Q) would have been a huge blow to their team and the way they play.

Resigning JJ now they can make a run. The problem is sooner or later they are going to have to deal away Marion. They move Voskuhl to create room to SHOEHORN JJ into their cap situation under the LT. This is assuming Amare's extension. I think they will have 6 guys totalling 60M. And then they have to fill out their team with another 9 guys! This season they can get by. But chances are when the player's raises go up in the next few years it will push them in LT land and they are going to have to cut bait.

It really is only a matter of time before Marion is delt for expiring contracts, some talented youth on rookie deals and draft picks.

I disagree. He's yet to average even 14 mpg in any season, and has shown little signs of getting it. He has gotten better, but if he hadn't improved his attitude since Doc Rivers got fed up with him, he'd be out of the league. And you have to remember to couple those 1.3 bpg with his 1.7 fpg (just in those spare minutes he got). I don't see how he stays on the floor.

Couldn't get on the floor in the Dallas series (under 7 mpg)
They knew they needed his size against the Spurs, and tried throwing him in there for 30 mpg in the opening two games, and then brought him back to the bench in games 3, 4, and 5. The two games were he got major PT? Averaged 8 pts, 6 boards, and 2 blocks. Not bad. But not enough for someone getting starter's minutes.

To me, he's a slightly more skilled and athletic Cato, but with less heart and less work ethic.

He got cut by the Cav's, and they're hardly the worst team in the league. Then he was signed to and became a contributor to the best team in the league. I'm not saying Steven Hunter is ever going to contend for an All-Star berth, but Big Ben Wallace was cut once or twice too. Steven Hunter has the tools and he's still young. Anyway, he fits in perfectly in Phoenix.
