Agreed. Personally, I would like it if Mario just took the field with little fanfare next season, and then tore it up. It'd be nice for him to earn the attention with his play, and not the "#1 pick" stigma.

Mario was on the NFL network a few weeks after the draft. I've seen him on several interviews.

BTW, I had my big toenail knocked off...It grows back to the point you cannot tell. Amazing what the human body can do to heal...

i haven't seen/heard those interviews with Kubiak. maybe i just missed them.

as far as Mario interviews, i'm not concerned about his playing ability because of the lack of talk time. i'm just annoyed by the fact that he's a #1 pick without any national media coverage. wouldn't you think that rome or siciliano or bruno or that idiot jt the brick or any of those national radio schmucks would have had an interview with him by now? name the last #1 pick where that has happened?

yeah, I lost my pinky finger's nail once from paint balling. It grew back kind of wrinkly at first when it was new but it looks normal now. Our bodies really are amazing.

Does that mean he looks heavier or lighter?

I had no idea he had toe problems, but I wonder if we (Texans) knew b/f we picked him or not, knowing it wasn't a big deal...Just a thought...

This could hamper if not ruin his career -- certainly Mario won't have the same burst without the ability to dig in his toenails accelerating off the line.

In other news VY may be starting before the season is out -- at any rate he will be used heavily by Fisher...

"Let's face it. You're going to see (No.) 10 on the field this year," Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said. "Where and when and how, I can't be specific, but you're going to see him on the field at some point."

I didn't know where to put this tidbit, but I was eating at the Rajun Cajun last night on Richmond. I was taking a leak and they have one of those ad posters that has ads for ticket companies, tattoo parlors, cheap auto insurance and what not. Well, there was an ad for Ticket Depot that had a picture of Roy Oswalt beside a picture of Vince Young. In a Texans jersey.

    Kinda made me sad. :(

From what I hear, Mario cut himself on the chin shaving on Wednesday 06/07/06.

This could hamper if not ruin his career -- certainly Mario won't have the same burst without the ability to use his helmet chin-strap accelerating off the line.

In other news no matter his contract situation, Brian Dawkins doesn't plan to play or act any differently....

"Whether it's a contract year, whether it's the first year after a contract, whether it's the third year on a four-year deal, I'm going to try my best to give everything I have regardless of the situation," Dawkins said.

Here's a pretty good article on Mario Williams. He expects to back at full strength at the end of the month. It's long so I'm not going to post the whole thing, just the beginning.

HOUSTON — Seven weeks after the NFL Draft, Houston Texans owner Bob McNair still hears it at cocktail parties.

The Texans, 2-14 last year, could have chosen Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush as the No. 1 overall selection. They could have picked University of Texas legend Vince Young. Instead they chose a quiet kid from rural Richlands, N.C., defensive end Mario Williams, and around here that just don't play well over a gin and tonic.

"'Here are two guys everybody says are great, and you pick this guy I've never heard of? Bob, what are you doing?'" McNair says he hears.

In Houston, the Intercontinental airport is named Bush and Young is a hometown hero who will never have to buy another plate of barbecue as long as he lives. Williams? He was merely a stud at the NFL Scouting Combine. The Texans are convinced their No. 1 pick gives them a better chance to win right away with improved defense than if they selected Bush or Young.

"They don't make a lot of guys 6-7, 295, who can run a 4.66" time in the 40-yard dash, says rookie Texans coach Gary Kubiak. "He's got freakish talent."

Perhaps, but he doesn't have the big name. "People down here, they loooove Vince Young," says rookie Texans linebacker DeMeco Ryans. "That's all they talk about."

To them, there's nothing McNair can say. "The best way to get fans excited is not to pick who they want in the draft," he says. "It's winning football games."

It is onto this stage that Williams, 21, strides with open-toed cleats and a white Stetson, a recent gift from mayor Bill White, who knew the fans watching the draft at Houston's Reliant Stadium booed the Texans' first pick.

"I've heard about what happened," Williams says. "But every time I go out around town, I never get a bad vibe from anybody. Everywhere I go, it's crazy: pictures, autographs, 'Welcome to Houston, we're glad to have you.'"

With his size, what else are fans going to say?

"I know that," Williams says, "but if they were really upset with the pick, they wouldn't talk to me at all."....

it continues on the link. He talks about a 3 inch needle they stuck in his bone and rotated around his foot.

I thought Mario hurt his toes when someone stepped on it during mini camp.
