you have to remember the ROY is a popularity honor. When francis and brand were neck and neck, Steve was definately the better rookie, but Brand has the media eye.

As long as Yao continues to put up good numbers, he is locked in for ROY. The NBA can not afford to disappoint 1 million chinese fans from across the globe.

    I remembered before the season
Jack Ramsay predicted that Yao will have 12 pts, 6 rebs and 1 blocks

Look at yao's stat now 13.3pts, 8.2 rebs and 1.94 blk and 1.5 assists

and jack once said he's surprised by the development of Yao

so he could be wrong again...very likely

You are all wrong. Jay Williams will get the nod. It is absolutely unbelievable how much he has changed the Bulls team and how the position of PG is played in the NBA. To think that we could of traded Stevie for him and taken Dunleavy with our first pick is a source of much pain in the Sauce household. I think everyone has learned their lesson about taking these questionable players with potential over anyone with a Duke jersey in their locker. It so sad that Dicky V continues to get the last laugh on all of us.

    :(

This is very much a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league. Amare has been playing well lately and the Suns have been winning. Yao has been...well, Yao...and the Rockets are up and down.

You're only as good as your last national TV appearance and ours hasn't been for a couple of weeks.

Well hopefully the Amare bandwagoners will quiet down for the moment...his line last night: 13pts 4reb 1blk
    And Yao's: 23pts 11reb 2blk

Obviously it doesnt say much cause its just one game, but what it does show is that you can't base a player's overall skills, potential, abilities and talent on a few breakout games.

And I think Jeff is right...the NBA - and for that matter America in general - has a what have you done for me now mentality and a short attention span.

Dont get me wrong i'm a big Yao Ming fan and in a few years he will be in the top five in teh NBA. Right now though Amare Stoudamire is playing better than Yao and in mind he would deserve ROY more than Yao.
