he's going to be looking at a bunch of empty seats, anyway. that's a rally i can get behind. that's a rally that bob will actually understand and care about.
How about instead of doing all this just go to the game, but root for the Texans to lose. Cheer whenever the Jags score, boo when the Texans score.
I feel REALLY uncomfortable doing stuff like that. I always have. It's like rooting for another team's player to get hurt or for your team to tank for the lottery. It's counterintuitive to how I'm built.
I will take off work and attend the 'rally' held after we win our first superbowl. Mr. McNair hopefully knows we are what our record says we are. If he doesn't replace Kubiak he is blinded by loyalty. If he doesn't replace Smith he is blinded by optimism. He must realize we are bad because the leadership led us to this place.
exactly. kubiak is sealing his own fate. if you want to express a sentiment to bob about who is coaching the team, provide solutions and not complaints.
Obviously an anti-McNair rally and he has had it coming for quite sometime (though many fans have made their feelings known before). We know he should have fired Kubiak last year and in hindsight should have fired Kubiak after going 8-8 for a second straight year. McNair has fans feeling that he is unenthusiastic and concerned about money, prestige and title and not about winning. I've been telling my father for years that McNair is not concerned about winning or even money for that matter; instead McNair wants a stadium where he can take his family, friends, colleges, business partners and others into a luxury suite and show off the stadium and team as some sort of magnus opus to his life's achievements. I don't believe Kubiak is the problem.
Here's a video of the master plan. <div><object width="576" height="324"><param name="movie" value="http://d.yimg.com/nl/yahoo%20sports/site/player.swf"></param><param name="flashVars" value="vid=23643024&shareUrl=http%3A//sports.yahoo.com/video/player/nfl/NFL_News/23643024&"></param><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed width="576" height="324" allowFullScreen="true" src="http://d.yimg.com/nl/yahoo%20sports/site/player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="vid=23643024&shareUrl=http%3A//sports.yahoo.com/video/player/nfl/NFL_News/23643024&"></embed></object></div>
^^Right. Thing is, these guys will obviously be happy if Kubiak is indeed fired...but what then? Will they be happy no matter WHO is brought in as a replacement? That's dumb. Contrary to popular(?) belief, Gary Kubiak is NOT the worst coach available. Period. Seems like a half-assed rally and a half-cocked idea if you ask me. I heard (sorry if it's in this thread already) that the promoters won't even be there b/c they've been getting....DEATH THREATS? This is getting ridiculous. See what you're doing to us, BOB?
They are planning a rally to get this man fired really this has got to be a joke .I think he should be fired to but a rally how would these guys fill if Kubiak rallied at there job to get them fired.
I don't think that's the issue at all. I'll give Kubiak credit for maintaining his cool amidst all this. He hasn't lashed out...he's never made excuses. He can take the heat.
That was my way of saying that this scrutiny/criticism is expected. People acting shocked/offended/disgusted at this is what is truly funny to me. Are y'all new to professional sports?
This would be an easier conversation to have over a beer..something usually gets lost in translation over a message board. I agree the criticism is expected...and I'm not shocked, offended or disgusted. I just think it's kinda dorky to spend your time picketing an NFL team for a new coach. I'm upset enough to write about it here...to scream at the TV...to not buy tickets...etc. I just can't imagine choosing to spend an afternoon picketing an NFL team - an entertainment choice, ultimately - because you're unhappy with their personnel. Of course they have the right to do it....and of course I expect people to be upset about this; particularly season ticket holders/PSL owners.
I'm not imagining a picket line. I'm guessing these are mostly season ticket holders who want to draw attention to the coaching situation. Seems like a pretty reasonable, legit thing to do. And apparently it is working, because they got national attention already. Haters gonna hate, I guess.
I was reading the part where the organizer is already backing away from it because he was getting copied on emails that looked like death threats and hate crap to kubiak. I don't know about being a hater I have been a Texans season ticket holder, so I understand the frustration...believe me, I understand. But I'm not gonna pretend I'm a coal miner fighting for working conditions, either  all good...i think we just see this differently. i promise i don't feel as strong about this as it may seem given the number of back-and-forths between us on this. i'm just delaying some document review i need to get to.
I just became a season ticket holder last month. Now I can be one of those guys who calls into the radio shows and talks about giving up my PSLs if McNair doesn't hire my cousin-in-law since he's super awesome at the footballs.
