Yeah, I have been 21 years ago when I was in college. There were pot heads like that. I know people in their middle ages can get their acts straight. My nephew is 10, and he knows to get teacher permission if he has to miss class. My point it has nothing to do with age. These kind of stuff is pretty basic, everybody knows since kid. I just dont like the excuse that he is not mature, he needs positive influnce to come to work on time.
Just wait till your nephew gets to college, you seriously think he wont cut a day of class for "personal reason" without prior request? Well maybe some people do, but I think that it's not uncommon for people to do bone headed things at that age. In fact I would say college studen't probablly do more bone headed things than a 10 yr old. 10 yr old's atleast listen to their parents for the most part. But ya, Eddie missing practice is inexcusable, so much talent, so sad to see it wasted.
Thats right send him to tha Clipps he can back up Brand cuz he sure ant doin much in Houston thats 4 sure ...... hmmmm i really do wonder what we can get outa him though ????
The Clippers don't need him. They already have Wilcox and Ely. EG needs support but he also has to start acting like a professional basketball player and a team member. His trading value is low but he can still improve if he puts in a lot of effort. The Rockets want him to succeed but it's also up to him to get his act together.
Patience folks...patience, JVG has it under control. Eddie is young and learning. We seem to rush to judgement, but then again we're fans...let's sit tight until we get the rest of the story.
They didn't actually suspend Spliffin for taking time off -- they suspended him for taking time off without getting in touch with the team first. AND for remaining out of touch and not returning calls for a couple of days. AND for missing yet ANOTHER practice, also without notifying anyone in advance. Although there's no real evidence to support the pregnant woman theory, I'd have to say that his irresponsible behavior overall definitely lends it some credence.
Although JVG is tough, but from him grabbing Zo's leg during a fight, he cares about the people in his team. I am guessing maybe Eddie wants to get back to practice, but eventually he just can't do it because of whatever problems he is having. Therefore, JVG decides it is probably best for eddie to be away for a while to sort out his problems first. It may just be the best thing for eddie right now to be away from basketball. Besides, I don't think he owe an explanation to anyone, maybe except for his employers for missing work. Everyone gets their own problem, and we don't need no one to approve what our problems mean to us. Eddie isn't performing anyway, so it maybe better for the rox right now that he is not playing. Otherwise, it would be tempting to give him min for his 'potential' and 'talent'.
Maybe yes and maybe no. Before the Mavs drafted Roy Tarpley back in the 80s, they KNEW that he'd flunked a drug test for MJ & coke while in college yet they drafted him anyway seduced by his "athletic ability". We all know how that story turned out. For the Rox, you have the drug stories of John Lucas, Lewis Llyod and Mitchell Wiggins. The point to be made is that IF the Rockets management had knowledge of this guy'd problems before the draft and they STILL flushed away 3 1st round draft picks on him because they were awed by his "athletic potential", then they are bigger fools than they look right now.
Wow over 25,000 a game .I would be at work 8 hours early and clean the building for that kind of $$.Athletes truly do live in another world.
i am not surprised by his behavior. let me tell everyone a little story, I am from Philly and I went to school with Edde, I didnt know him personally, cause he was two grades ahead of me, but everyone in my highschool knew who he was. The guy got his ass kissed by every teacher and we had the same lunch period and the guy did not even had to pay for his lunch. Eddie had also been suspended numerous times for fights, now we went to a catholic school and two suspendsions means expellion. Griffin basically had the entire faculty sucking up to him cause he brought him sponsors. I personally witnessed this one fight, which was even reported on the local news, where he and the center of the school basketball team went at it over some money. The priest who was the principal tried to separate them and got Griffins elbow in his face. It was one of my fondest highschool memorie. tHIS IS ALL TRUE i SWEAR
I have never seen such ignorant reactions to a situation as this one. This has been blown way out of proportion. I'm sure Eddie will be fine. He needs a break in life and fans certainly don't want to give it to him.
Yea right. A break in life after a summer break? Besides, when you have a teammate called Yao Ming, you really don't have an excuse to ask for a break.
You're right, Don. A kid EG's age who has to slave away 3 or 4 hours a day for 7 whole months out of the year for a paltry $192,730 a month (that's over $40K every week) certainly needs a break in life. We can't expect someone in that difficult position to be responsible enough to stay out of trouble, report to work on time and try his best while at his job. I'd be glad to join you in holding a pro-Spliffin rally in regard to his latest little episode, but I'm afraid I'm too busy working 60+ hours a week to get my rent paid.
A lot of people I know including myself would take around 10 long years, working 6 days a week 10 hours a day to earn that weekly salary of his.
