I'm waiting to have some blood work done, and thought I would check the board for the first time in a long while. Ended up spendingg an hour or so reading.

    Sure has changed.

    Thanks for your encouragement.

    Cheers.

Just what I was thinking. Last OP post I read was written from a hospital bed so I wasn't feeling too encouraged. Glad to see you're still among us; you've been missed.

ok, just read the post, and it all seems to fit. it reminds me of conversations my friends and i have had. the classic "what are the first things you would do if you won the lottery" question.

without fail, the first response people give involves any or all of these scenarios:

    buying a house
    buying a car
    going on a long vacation
    buying/starting a business
    investing the money wisely
    quitting their job immediately
    giving 2 weeks notice

there's other oddball scenarios, but the one thing i don't hear people say is "solidifying my foundation"...that is, unless they own an old house that needs reworking...

too many times, people acquire wealth and think that it will solve their problems. sure, it pays off debt (and at the same time creates new debts). but it doesn't make your mind right. it doesn't surround you with the right people in life - people who truly have your best interest in mind, that serve to gain little if anything at all, from your success. it can pay for counseling, but doesn't necessarily make you realize that you needed it in the first place.

"more money, more problems", as the song goes, right? yea, because often times money solves superficial problems, and buries emotional cancers.

get well, eddie. i'm with you man. really.

good to see you, OP. I think if you were to pop in once in awhile, more of the "old-timers" or at least regular posters from a couple years back might come back. Don't be tryin' to maitain "a life" outside of the bbs. :)

Do you still have some connections to the Rockets organization with the different regime change? A lot of us miss your scoops. :)

This is a prime example of why trashy people shouldn't have wealth.

I hope they all go friggin' broke. I hope Eddie's career fails and he ends up delivering pizzas in the ghetto. I hope the daughter gets put up for adoption and and grows up in a better family enivronment. And I hope Jessica ends up whoring for crack.

f**k 'em all (except the baby).

I've been at the center or REAL family problems. I grew up in a family dealing simultaneously with divorce, rape and homelessness. I've had to deal with family members struggling with violence, drugs and depression. I had to deal with these things without the benefit of knowing that a multi-million dollar salary had subsistence taken care of. To paraphrase Denzel: EG ain't got sh*t on me.

Yes, I do have less sympathy for the kid. Yes, he has to face some difficult problems. At the same time, he has helped create the situation and has obviously handled this problem irresponsibly. And--sorry--if the problems are what have been described above, his problems ain't that bad. This problem is well within his means of resolving it.

As a father of two daughters, and as a person who has made it his business to volunteer with social services groups--to help children in dispicable family situations, there is no freaking way I deal with this problem the way EG has so far. I'll phrase it like this: You threaten the saftey of my children and me and my brother coming over to your house to "see" my daughters will be the least of your concerns.

And my lack of sympathy has nothing to do with his money. EG's money compounds his problems but it also provides him with a valuable resource to help him resolve this thing. He just needs to get his head straight, let his balls drop and tell the hangers-on to piss off and run this "mother" through the courts like a 2-dollar ho. Until he has exhausted the possibilities in his power, EG don't get no sympathy from me. If he loves his kid so much, he'll stop letting this thing drag out. No matter the cost.

Oeilpere, very happy to see you back. All the best for your health.

Regarding VG, I first thought you wrote "on crack"! Glad you are not seeing it that way :).

This might have been one of the most despicable posts I have ever seen on this bbs.

Also, I absolutely have the feeling that stab's info is correct.

JVG suspended Eddie Griffin from practise and the team without pay until he sorts himself out.

So that means Eddie is "excused" from practises - he has not practised with the team in over a week now.

I guess I should have tried that. The police reports for October aren't on the web yet, so I couldn't confirm. So you know, I do generally believe you, but basic fact checking is always good.

    WOW! Oeilpere is back!

    You've been missed, man!

Screw the insider info, it's great to know that you are well and getting ready for a brand new season!

Indeed the board has changed... and probably not for the better. I can't help but feel that the discussions were of a higher caliber when there was only a handful of regular posters with their recognizable writing styles and familiar nicknames.

About EG, it's a shame that there IS indeed a contract demand going on. Looks like EG is in need of some SERIOUS conseuling.

Great to have you back, OP... and for good, I hope!

    Cheers!

Thanks for the answers on the law issue guys, I appreciate it.

OP: Welcome back, hope you and your family are well.

Question: Do you know how EG relates to the rest of the team? Do they like him? Mentor him? Think he's a head case? You hear them talk about each other all the time, but little from/about EG. I'd be interested if you - or anyone - has insight.

welcome back pops. glad to "see" you're no longer in a hospital bed dictating your posts!

thanks for the input stab. the info you say "feels" right to me. it puts a new spin on things. i'm just at a loss as to why he doesn't get a kick ass lawyer & screw the b!tch like the wh*re she appears to be.

if i couldn't see my (proverbial) kid for no apparent or valid reason, and a weapon was pulled, i would've done/do three things (in any order).
-1 cut of her money supply. let her invoice you for the childs costs only, with not a cent for her.
-2 when the cops came i would've reported her brothers to them. having weapons around a kid is bound to increase your chances of getting a better custody deal.
-3 get one of the family lawyers the team solicitor (goldberg) could recommend. would be a top level person/firm & she wouldn't be able to counter them, especially with no funds from eddie.
