This is a chance for the other players to shine... if Eddie doesn't want to play. He makes millions of dollars. I don't feel sorry for him. If we didn't show up for work, our job would be gone. It's called , You're Fired!!! As of yet, Eddie has not earn his previous salary. He's preformed sub par!!! He owns the Rockets more then not showing up for work. Grow Up or use your College education Eddie!!! Oh! Ya! You didn't graduate....Can you say, Do you want Fries with that, Sir?????

Too bad he didnt let the team know this crap last year so that we could still have KT on the squad.

The Rockets will loose nothing with him gone....Again, what did he do for us?

610 is also reporting the rumours out of Philly that Eddie doesn't want to play anymore.

Obviously in hindsight the Rockets look like fools for trading three picks for EG, but who cares as long as they win. JVG has said he wants to surround Steve and Yao with tough, smart, hard-working players who can shoot. EG does not meet any of these standards. Cut all ties with him as soon as possible.

If he keeps this crap up, can we cut him for breach of contact or something similar?

ya'll need to leave Eddie alone. You dont know what's going on in his life. If ya'll were true fans you would stick behind him. I luv Eddie and think he will be a great player one day, he just needs to get himself together. If Houston trades him over this ,they never believed in him in tha first palce. If he does get traded:( I hope he busts the Rockets ass every time he plays them!!!

    Eddie's # 1 Fan!!!!!!!!!!!!

Berman just broke a story on EG. Said he ran off with some girl named TweetyLoves33. His head hasn't been right since!

Listen Tweety, how can you be a true ROX fan if you put your lust for EG above the entire team. I'm just messing around with ya, but you might catch major **** over that post. Just to give you a heads up.

for the ones that talk about hindsight..well yea OF COURSE it's easy to say things in retrospective terms:rolleyes:

as for Griffin, i either hopes he return ASAFP (F as in ...french terms) or just tell the organization he's quitting. otherwise, he's wasting the teams' time, his time, and, most importantly, the fans' time.

i tried to find a silver lining to all this but quite frankly, it's just time to break off the marriage.

i'm wondering if there's anything in the CBA (collective bargaining agreement) that says that a player's contract is voided if he does not fulfill his end of the contract.

    Wow,

we should have seen this coming...

How can we have a good power forward, that just got out of diapers?

I guess it just wasnt meant to be, but I'll give him some personal time and we'll do a canned food drive in his honor!:p

Okay, but seriously he needs to get it together cuz we aint got the patience for this.

They need to just stick him on the IR when he comes back from suspension because he will not be helping the team anytime soon.

Im pretty sure that each day he misses practice the further he falls behind his other teamates in running new off and def plays which will throw thing off balance IF he ever gets back on the court.

Why in the heck would you want a player that mind is on someother stuff right now and dont want to play basketball anymore?
Why would you want a basketball player that skips off without telling anyone that he is not comming to work or to practice?
Why would you want a player that has no work ethic to get better in order for his team to win?

To say that you would want Eddie to light up the rockets if he get traded is a slap in the face to rockets fans I think.

I haven't read this thread entirely but to the people are blaming Eddie for his situation are dead wrong. This guy is 21, had all sorts of pressure on him after the teammate fighting incident. Has had deaths in his family that could effect anyone like it has to him.... whether it be smoking pot or drinking problems away, no matter what age.
The guy has had expectations as high as KG  what a name to live upto!! The guy was mis-used in Rudy's system and had people on his back because all he was doing was launching 3's, fair enough from our point of view, but Eddie is still only human, none the less.
Fighting for a contract still... even when it is only a team option on a draft pick
Anyone remember Leon Smith? Another great example of this.... expectations above the clouds but so many problems with their lives that basketball and the media is the last thing they need to get themselves back on their feet.

My solution? JVG and the rockets should offer Eddie councilling to sort out his personal problems and do what it takes to help him return back to our team. Suspending him was fair, but we cannot turn our back on EG, this makes things much worse. The statements by his contacts seem fair to Eddie's personal life and if the pressure is kept up on EG, I will not blame him for leaving basketball for his own sake. Pray for the man! :(

I wouldn't be against Rockets management helping Eddie in his situation, but I would have to ask whether or it is unreasonable to ask NBA players to have their **** together when they want to be a part of the league. After all, playing basketball is a job.

Unfortunately, no person (not even an NBA prospect) knows if he has, or when he will have, mental problems. If he knows he has a problem, he is already half way to a cure.

    Through a very reliable source........
Last week, Eddie went to see his daughter at his money-grubbing girlfriend Jessica Jimenez's apartment(which Eddie paid for along with her new Escalade) off of 75th and Harrisburg. The girfriend's thug brothers wouldn't let Eddie and his brother in to see his daughter because Jessica said he couldn't see her. He kept trying, but stopped after allegedly a weapon was taken out but not used.
The daughter is only around 6 months old. Eddie wants nothing more to do with Jessica, just the daughter. Jessica's attitude is one of a leach, and all she cares about is $$$.
Eddie has made some mistakes, but he is only human and he's a very kind person. I hope that he doesn't stop playing basketball, but he may need a new start elsewhere if this situation does not improve. Of course, I would love for him to play at the potential that JVG sees in him and in Rockets red, but Eddie....if you are out there, take care of youreself and take your time. Basketball will still be here waiting.......Keep your head up. I haven't given up hope yet..

Very "humanizing" post. Gives us all a better picture of who Eddie Griffin is. He needs support, counsel, and help. I hope he makes the right decisions for his life. I believe he can still be a great player, if can overcome his personal problems.
